Borrowed an H reg W201 with 306k miles on the clock from Merx, whilst they serviced my E class (good job as always); It was a bit tatty but what a lovely drive and probably the highest mileage car I've ever driven. Apparently still on the original engine & gearbox. I guess seriously low budget...

Never had the problem, and I'm in Buxton (yes, it's been known to snow in June, I'm told). I find a rafia beach mat stretched across the windscreen works a treat (with the ends easily trapped in shut doors)! Might work along the 'wacky windows' too? Getting a rwd car up the hill is a different...

You are so wrong, it's pretty central for access to the whole UK. Part of the reason I chose to settle here. I travel UK wide with work but prefer to have a home surrounded by stunning countryside rather than stuck in a town or city. Admittedly it's a bit chilly & grey today......!!

If it were me, I'd get as much mileage out of them as possible, seeing as they're new. If I had problems or reservations about them after running them a while I'd then think about swapping them.

Cheapo tyres - I think Quickfit sell them. I've no experience of them though... Some cheap tyres are pretty good (eg Gislaved), others aren't....

+1 Likewise. Used it for years on several home machines, work machines & stick on for the friends & family that ask my advice & use me as free tech support! I really don't like Norton, Mcaffee etc. Always the first thing I remove if preinstalled.

Stunning job Mark! The car looked good when I saw it the other week, better still now! Mine's looking good now with the wheel arches done (& thank god the courtesy 'roller skate' has gone!). Just need to find time to apply similar elbow grease.....
