Might not be around as much

I would just like to say thanks for: a/ a fab forum and b/ fab people in it. I have now sold my W124 (to another forum member) and so I am MB-less. I'm pretty sure that is how it is going to stay, as I was a Landy man for many years before buying the W124, and I currently own two Landys now...

    Advanced driver: are you one?

Who here is an advanced driver? More to the point, if you are not one, then why not? Some people here drive some very powerful and expensive motors.....and yet have not taken the time to improve their driving skills. Why not? Before I took my advanced driving test (incl. emergency driving)...

Heart attack: what would you do?

Someone collapses in front of you (or you find them already on the floor). How many of you would know what to do? (without the aid of Google ;) ) Come on, come on, every second counts...... (As I've said before, I work for the ambulance service. Something happened to me last night whilst...

    Action holidays!

Am I the only one? I cannot stand beach holidays: lying on a beach for more than 10 minutes drives me nuts (and do people really still lie in the sun for hour after hour? ) My perfect holiday is where are there lots of things to do and to see. Hire a car and drive, visit cities...

    Will it start?

Back on the 17th Dec, I parked the W124 and started using the Disco because of snow. Since then, we have had temps of -9C at night and lots and lots of snow. There is a W124-shaped snow lump on the drive which has been there 12 days. I am going to dig it out today, but the question is: will...

    Hero to zero

Has anyone ever fallen so far, and so fast, as Tiger Woods? Tiger Woods quits golf 'to be a better husband' I think the way Woods has handled this has been awful. Instead of staying in hiding, he should have come out with his hands in the air saying 'I did it, and I'm sorry'. I bet all this...

    Canon camera advice please

My wife currently has a Canon 40D (with grip), plus a number of L lenses. She would like to upgrade this body, and has around £1,000 to £1,500 to spend (ish). We have ruled out the 50D. This leaves the 7D, 5D MKII or a s/hand 1D. She shoots people/events (not weddings) and some landscapes...

Should I buy a petrol hovver mower?

My old petrol mower has died :( .......so that means I can buy a new one :D Now, my lawn is never going to win awards. It is frankly very 'rustic': very up-and-down, the moles love it, and so do the dogs. The problem I had have with my old mower is that it doesn't like a non-flat lawn....so...

Riding Motorbikes without a bike licence

I passed my car test in 1982. I know the law has changed much since then (when I could ride a 125 on L plates). Is there any sort of bike I can jump on today and ride without undertaking any sort of test? Could I ride a 50cc scooter? Cheers.

    Wheel bolts W124

Came out to my W124 yesterday, to find it sitting on a flat  Took the (alloy) wheel off, and got the (steel) spare out but.........my bolts are too long to tighten up on the spare. Are there different (short) bolts for the steel spare on this car? If so, has anyone have five they don't...

    W124 electricial weirdness

Driving to work today, something weird happened to my W124. It was raining, so I had the wiper, lights and blowers on. I noticed the wiper was getting slower...and slower......and slower. When I stopped at some lights, my ABS warning light came on, followed shortly after by my SRS light. In...
