W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

Got it back today! New ignition switch did the trick. All a bit financially painful but it's nice to be back in a car again :) Big thanks to my Indy and MB Guildford for preserving and assisting with the financial pain. Thanks to Olly for his advice and the forum for being awesome. Phew.

W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

I think there's goodwill from everyone involved at the moment, no winners involved in this repair!

W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

Update: MB Germany plugged in remotely and spent a day on it, came to the conclusion that the ignition switch is faulty even though it's not showing a fault, so that's another £600 to change that plus I'm being charged the 5 hours diagnostics as well. My Indy has been brilliant recently, more...

W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

Update: MB Guildford have been working very hard behind the scene it seems and got authorisation to change the plate/valve chest for a new one from HQ but still not possible to code it. So HQ Germany are going to try to code it remotely - fingers crossed. My Indy called today to explain and...

W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

Thanks again, it's mostly above my head and I can't really interrogate MB Guildford as I don't understand anything about coding/systems and I'm afraid of aggravating them and making matters worse. They have confirmed so far that there's nothing wrong with the car or the new part, so they assume...

W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

The plate and valve chest on mine is all in one, so the whole thing's been replaced, and yes it was a MB part. I don't know the other answers. Mines the early 7g trans.

W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

Olly, do you think I should persevere or ask them to return it to me with the old faulty unit put back in and I'll get it transported down to you? I've lost confidence in my Indy and MB now :(

W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

Well chaps, MB Guildford have had it for 3 weeks now and still can't code it. Apparently they've removed the part, checked it, confirmed its the correct one and was fitted properly, refitted it and still await head office to sort the software problem. If anyone has any ideas of what I can do...

W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

Thanks for that much appreciated. It's been at MB Guildford for 9 days now and they are waiting for head office technical team to come up with a solution to get it coded. I'm not getting stressed by it but it seems a bit ridiculous to me. Surely they've had this issue before, or the part is...

Axle Stand positions for a CLK C209

Hi, there's some rubber recesses under the sills front and rear where the factory jack goes, you can use those if the supports on your stands fit the recess. If you have a trolley jack then there's a rubber puck sticking out of the front underside covers, and ta the back you can use the rear...

W209 CLK Gearbox Control Unit - Help!

The saga continues :( Main dealer can't code the new valve chest either so I've had to authorise 5 hours of diagnosis time at main dealer rates! If it turns out to be a hardware or software issue for that specific part then I don't have to pay for the diagnosis. All seems a bit ridiculous!
