Best way to start with new white paint

The Carlack nano sealant kit for the paintwork works very well. Don't forget your wheels. Clean with Iron-x then seal with Gtechiq C5 wheel armour.

    Celtic Tuning

Thanks for reply. Did you have a stage 1 or 2 remap? If stage 2 did it feel it had a 70% increase in bhp and 58% increase in torque? Did you ever have it checked on a rolling road to confirm gains? What sort of difference did it make to mpg?

W169 A Class roof or windscreen leak

Thanks. It is a lovely car. I often try to pinch it in preference to my SL. It is indeed the aventgarde with the sports pack. We also have a slight whirring that's only noticeable at lower speed I suspect it maybe the idler wheel on the serpentine belt. A quite common problem with the A class...

    Celtic Tuning

Which A class was that? I am looking to get our A class remapped and had a quote from them. Most companies reckon I should get a 30-40bhp and 60-70Nm increase, but they are quoting 76bhp and 107Nm increase. In my request for the quote I told them it was a CVT and asked if ok with this box...

W169 A Class roof or windscreen leak

Just an update. Didn't buy the one in photos. Found a 2007 A180 cdi CVT in Black with sports pack, 17" alloys, Sports 1/2 leather interior, PDC, auto dimming mirror and electric folding mirrors with just 38k on the clock. SWMBO is well chuffed with it.

W169 A Class roof or windscreen leak

Hi. I have been to view an a class I am thinking of buying, but there is one thing putting me off. There were a couple of damp patches between the roof liner and the trim on the A and B post - photos attached. Has anybody seen anything similar? Could it just need the windscreen resealing or is...

R129 Heater fan stays on even with ignition switched off

It ended as above. I can only assume some fine snow had blown in somewhere getting something damp and upsetting it. It has not developed the same problem since.

National Tyres cheap oil and filter

Just out of interest I put my car details into their online system and it advised semi - synthetic. That's for a 2000 year R129 V6 with ASSYST variable servicing. In no way does this come close to the oil spec required.

    Tuning LPG system

What system is it? Most of the simple single point systems use AEB electronics and you should be able to find a closer lpg garage that specialises in your make of system. If the car is used a lot (I assume it is as to make the cost of converting worthwhile) you could also have it upgraded with...

R129 Heater fan stays on even with ignition switched off

OK it seems the mere mention of the fault on here has scared the car back to behaving itself :bannana: I replaced the fuse this morning to head to work and it appears everything is working fine. Not taking any chances on a flat battery for tomorrow so fuse is out for tonight and I will see if...

R129 Heater fan stays on even with ignition switched off

Hi, I have a 2000 R129 today it decided to refuse to switch the heater blower fan off. When I switched the ignition off the fan turned itself on to pretty much full. I put the ignition back on I could control the fan speed normally. The "rest" button also controls the heating as it should. I...

    R129 starting problems

Thanks guys for the replies - I will get hold of some spray grease and get it sorted. Not sceptical at all. Although my first thoughts centered around the smart start system and with the rev needle registering I was thinking it might have been thatthis tells the starting system the engine...

    R129 starting problems

Thanks for reply. I have always got the car started (so far) - just sometimes takes 2 or 3 goes before it does. When you say it jams is this the drive gear on the motor jamming so it doesn't fully engage on ring gear? Do you mean that the engine needs to be started and running while...

    R129 starting problems

I am getting an intermittent starting problem with my SL320 V6. The first once or twice it happened I thought it was my fault letting the key go too soon even though I know it should automatically crank the engine until it starts even after letting go of the key. The starter motor engages...

    NFU mutual Insurance

I have my SL and my wife's Range Rover insured with NFU. They were not the cheapest - I could have saved about £30 by going to other insurers who's policies were not as comprehensive, excesses were higher and who's customer service do not come out as well in reviews. Not had to claim, but...

    R129 Aerial replacement

This is one of the next jobs on my list too. I found some masts here - (pretty sure it is the correct one for my 2000 SL) TELESCOPIC ANTE - - Mercedes-Benz Parts, Inchcape not sure what postage would be, but another option maybe

Perspex rear window renovation using Renovo

Sorry really don't know - you could try contacting Renovo direct. If the lens is scratched there is a product sold to pollish scratches from motorhome and caravan plastic windows - a material that is probably closer to the headlights than the soft material used for the soft top windows. I...
