Torque converter m8, Try handbrake on in gear foot on brake (make shure nuffin in front ) then see when she starts to try and go forwards let off handbrake, reduce footbrake whist keeping revs up, look for bite point on gearbox, should be about 1000 rpm, if not gearbox then converter, they do...

Mine does same m8, I think its the ignition moduls, sounds just like a digital cam charging up when you switch to flash ?..I get the same clunks but only noticeable with bonnet up, still if it aint broke , dont try to fix it
