W639 Viano - help needed - interior Cabin Temp sensor removal

Thks m80 for the reply. SOLVED. The new part comes pre-assembled as a sensor and plastic housing. Only the sensor needed, leave the housing mounted on the back of the dash. 4 small plastic spring clips separates the Sensor - only need to do two and can be done with the fingers. Mine was...

W639 Viano - help needed - interior Cabin Temp sensor removal

Can anyone help me? I’m replacing the interior cabin temperature sensor (between gearstick and steering wheel behind the dash). I’m trying to work out how it’s attached to the back of the dash, as I don’t want to break any clips. I’ve taken the stereo out and there seems to be two plastic pins...

Vito Sport 639 V6 glow plug replacement

Mine started easily after 2 failed. Mine was more expensive as some of plugs had to be drilled out by a specialist after snapping, despite precaution was taken, I.e hot engine, pre-soak. It's a very cramped area as you already know. It could be the main controller as well. I would get a...

    Turbo problems

Has anyone diagnosed the problem using the MB Star Diagnostics? Before you/garage pin all your hopes on the costly Turbo removal. I have the same engine in my Viano. I have heard that the sub frame and engine has to be dropped to get the turbo off, but the turbo actuator can be removed in situ...

Are prop shaft issues common with Viano?

My friend's Vito 2005 prop shaft bearing was sorted a few years ago on 150k miles for a few hundred quid. Sounds similar to what he had.

W140 722.6 gearbox trouble (see video)

I should add that someone on this forum who understands the codes will be able to confirm what needs replacing before spending money on the wrong parts.

W140 722.6 gearbox trouble (see video)

I changed my 722.6 conductor plate myself a few years ago, but that only cost me a few hundred pounds for the plate, pilot bushing, new atf and filter using genuine parts. It could be the electronic control module too but mine was done under warranty by the dealership a few years earlier too...

Low air coming into cab but fan working

Hi. I had same problem in my Viano travelling through France 40 deg C heat last month. As soon as I hit the Med, it wasn't working well. I also stopped to clear the filter... No joy as it was already clear... Cleaned a month before. I then spotted water dripping down the left underside of the...

OM642 V6 CDI @64k miles - engine management light and loss of power

I've had similar history on my Viano, similar mileage. Glow plugs and DPF sensor last year. Had to wait 4 wks for my sensor due to allegedly re-design or production issues. Wasn't sure if that was a good sign or not? Next time something goes on mine. I'll forewarn you!

Most economical speed on W210 E200

I'd agree with that. That definitely works for me. On the Viano 639, in top gear (5th auto) at about 1800 revs, 60mph I get 31mpg, but at 2100 around 75mph I get around 35mpg. Bizarelly, in commutting slow traffic churning along at a steady 50-55 can give a bonkers 45mpg. In all, not bad for a...

    Mercedes family car? (7 seater)

I considered an Estate car for our family but ended up buying an Extra Long wheelbase Viano and never looked back. It was definitely the right decision for the stuff we do.... So ok.. its 5.23m long but I saved lots of cash as it was cheaper. Its so easy to drive, its near vertical sides and...

    Viano 639 bushes

Mine were done. I had the link arms replaced too. There are definitely bushes and there is a service bulletin update to add shields to them to enhance their protection too. My friend has a Vitoria and he has had them replaced a few times too

    New Vito Sport x problems

Strangely, my tailgate started to rust where the chrome strip above the reg plate is after 6 years of low mileage. Its a private car and not used for commercial purposes. I was clearly not happy. However, to my great surprise after reading all the threads on this issue, I had no quibble whatso...

Viano W639 - Auto Gearbox Control Module Failure

Went to select D but the lever would not budge... Manually overriden the security lug where the solenoid usually releases after putting the foot on the brake pedal. Great.. got going but stuck in first. Anyway, luckily, it turns out to be the electronic control module board located near the...

    Ttints and Dynavin

Not what it turns out to be..... After much contemplation, I bought a Dynavin unit from Ttints in Luton. I even went to see them beforehand. Its a great setup. They were nice as rain as well. They have a well setup industrial unit outlet with a clean, spacious demo area, reasonable web site and...

Oil Level after Dealer Service, is this acceptable?

I also have a viano with the same 3.0 diesel 120 engine. I supplied 10 litres to the dealer but they only used 8.5 of it and i thought they short filled as the booklet specs 10 litres. I checked and it was on the upper Mark to my surprise. I have had no over fill errors. 16k miles later, it's...
