W209 Facelift (mopf) strange suspension clicking noise

Final update: Believe it or not and exactly as expected, the actual reason was disastrously lame. On a positive note, my front suspension is brand new now (for no reason) :) No matter what i've changed, after several hours on the road, noise re-appeared. It was not possible to identify the...

W209 Facelift (mopf) strange suspension clicking noise

An update... After replacing the bushes in above post, noise re-appeared. Still, way quieter compared to what it was before. I got a bit pissed off and ordered the strut mounts (all the bits and pieces above the spring). Ordered Lemfoerders. Quality is brilliant, cannot differentiate from the...

W209 Facelift (mopf) strange suspension clicking noise

Problem resolved. Replaced the bushings with the new part#. Central section of the bushing is totally different. Also the rubber "caps" were not installed originally on mine. Minor cracks, visible only when cleaned a bit. I would have never thought that they cause all that trouble :) All noises...

W209 Facelift (mopf) strange suspension clicking noise

@markjay, thanks mate. That's quite interesting :) In a nutshell: Upper control arm has a bushing with fluid in it, that is normally protected by 2 caps... never noticed the caps, will recheck although EPC is able to relate the A2113330697 part number to my vehicle as well. The bush itself comes...

W209 Facelift (mopf) strange suspension clicking noise

Suspension top mount is #120 on the 2nd image, right? I strongly suspect them... according to some mechanics opinions, the design of the top mount on 203/209 is a bit... crappy.

W209 Facelift (mopf) strange suspension clicking noise

Hi there guys, and greetings from the Bulgarian MB Club. It's been a while since I last wrote here... Long story short: I found a facelift (mopf) W209 CLK 280 in immaculate condition and loaded with options. I couldn't resist the temptation and shortly after I got it, sold my other vehicles and...

    111.944 Starting and Operation Issues

Quick update after a long time (sorry for the delay). Turned out to be a dying MAF. We plugged a BMW one. The car started working OK, not fine, but still much better compared to what it was before. Looking at the live data from the MAF, it turned out that the ECU was reading extremely high...

DIY: How to PROPERLY fix the dead displays on the Instrument Cluster

Agree, however we simply decided to do it properly this time and used the quite common conducting silicon strip. At least this is gonna last forever :) Glue-ing the new ribbon to the board and the display is pretty much the same crap like the original version. It's gonna work for 2-3 years and...

111.944 HINTs needed: (W208 CLK 200K) Rough idle (detonations in the exhaust headers)

Do you have a writeup reg. bypassing the oil breather system? Typicall you'd want to change the 2 small valves under the intake header and the oil spillage in the intake pipes is over (for another 7-8yrs). Yep, the 2nd flap is indeed a veeery over-engineered fancy blow-off valve :)

111.944 HINTs needed: (W208 CLK 200K) Rough idle (detonations in the exhaust headers)

You are absolutely correct guys. NGK doesn't list the 111.944 engine for the Iridium plugs. What i did is simple: Cross-referencing the different models from the different catalogues. Normally it should be NGK BKUR6ET, BKUR6ET10. I x-ref-d it to Denso L20PBR-S10, and then managed to match it...

    folding mirror annoyance

Not on W202 and W208 for sure. I think it's not possible on W210 either. I usually have access to STAR Diagnose and this is not an option you can activate from software perspective. Sorry :) (anything is possible though, but I don't think it's worth adding extra custom modules for this).

DIY: How to PROPERLY fix the dead displays on the Instrument Cluster

...had some free time over the weekend! As you probably know, most of the W208 CLKs and the W210 models experience issues with the temp. and clock displays. I believe other models have the same problem. There is a simple reason for this. VDO are jerks and used cheap solution for the transfer...

    Air Flow Meter

That's not the way to check it. You need to check out the air values. Mine was reporting very high numbers. The car ECU was calculating a correspondent amount of fuel to the rail and after a while i literally saw unburnt petrol leaking out of the exhaust pipes.

    111.944 Starting and Operation Issues

Quick update: I guess i was a bit frustrated yesterday. Today had the chance to properly test what could be the issue. I have a Carsoft which often is good enough to resolve the error codes. I somehow find it suitable enough for the task. Seen Star/DAS, worked with it, i don't think it will...

    111.944 Starting and Operation Issues

Hey guys, Need your help. The car was running just fine. All of a sudden started switching off the engine as if there is no enough fuel going to the rail. Then ended up complete impossible to drive. Engine simply was shutting off and not starting (manual gearbox). Waited for a friend to pull me...

    W208 Window repair/Door Card Removal

Yes, i've made a DIY manual on those in our local forum. Use Google Translate: Bulgarian to English... it's somehow understandable. Just tried. W202 C230K High Idle Problem

Reviving an old topic. I drive 111.944 engine CLK W208 200 Kompressor. My problem is that sometimes, quite rarely though... When I start the engine hot, it keeps the revs high. I rev the engine, it keeps them high and slowly, but i mean veeery slowly goes back to idle. When i restart the engine...

    shift knob question - W209 CLK500

Just saw this thread. Yes you can install a newer knob. The actual grip of the knob is the same for the models from 202 on. (208, 210, 203, 204, etc.). It can be installed on a 124 & 201 as well, however a new stick needs to be screwed onto the lever. See this pic. You can browse this topic for...

111.944 HINTs needed: (W208 CLK 200K) Rough idle (detonations in the exhaust headers)

I don't have access to a spare new one. I was thinking of buying 2 and replacing them anyhow. However when i started working on the issue, i wanted to do a maintenance of the whole system first, before replacing stuff. And i was driving with brand new plugs literally... the exact model for the...

111.944 HINTs needed: (W208 CLK 200K) Rough idle (detonations in the exhaust headers)

I was driving with the factory recommended Spark Plugs. I installed them some 5-6k km ago and the car had the issue before their installation as well. This is why i simply ignored them and thought the problem is somewhere else. And yes, i am sure there might be some deviation on the valve gaps...
