If the gearbox has never been serviced and it's on 100k I would get it serviced whilst it's in dock and make sure the torque converter is drained too, you will definitely notice the difference in gearbox performance.

I had a similar problem on my w211 and ended up resealing the hollow panel which makes up the boot lid, but is really a separate part.

Yes I got that and fitted a new back pressure sensor. Probably needed changing as it was the original and my car is on 170,000 miles but point is it was not the back pressure sensor that was at fault. I also got the inlet port shut off motor fault, but replacement actuator seems to have solved...

The way to go is scan for fault codes, my E320cdi 2007 was kangarooing intermittently and sometimes going into limp mode but would always recover after turning off and on. A replacement turbo actuator seems to have solved the problem.

I had one go a while back and just ended up changing the lot but I kept the five good ones, I am thinking of just changing the faulty one for one of the used ones I have.

If I was to take a resistance reading of a good glow plug what should be the reading, I'm getting 0.3ohms on some used but good ones that I have In my garage because last time I changed all 6 when only one was faulty.

Not on your particular model but my experience is even after changing the glow plugs if car is struggling to start on cold mornings it's usually the glow plug relay (and I don't think it throws up a fault code). My advice is if you're going to replace use an original one, there's many cheaper...

Nothing cumbersome about draining the torque converter, just make sure box is in neutral before you start work as you will need to turn the engine manually for the torque converter drain plug to be accessible. I would buy a new drain plug and use a decent Allen key. Might as well do the job...

If the fault didn't exist before seals were done and if it's the om642 I'd say your mechanic has not put something back properly and from experience it's probably an electrical plug, reading codes will point you in the right direction.
