Thanks Bobby it was actually my main dealer who were concerned to do the job in case the bolts sheared off so I said let’s leave it for now as the mounts weren’t too bad, however that was two years ago and they really need doing now.

thanks rOcky, I just got the car back, they dried the plug and socket out again and all was fine for a few days then the problem returned yet again so I've taken it back to sort out from here. We have a theory that the ECU might have water in it which has since drained down into the socket...

Thanks Booby, yep its a weird one, I should have it back next week so going to take a really good look round the inside of the wheel liner to see if there are any gaps where water can get behind, cheers Mark
