W219 CLS 350 2009 side mirror position problem

I have a 2009 CLS 350 (Australia). The passenger side mirror when I got the car would fold in and out, but in the open position it wasn't lined up properly and using the mirror control couldn't overcome that (it can move in and out but enough to line up correctly). Eventually I worked out that...

Running a w124 with smaller tyres on the front

I've got 215/45ZR17s on the front and 245/40ZR17s on the rear which is a much greater differential than you are contemplating. Works fine and looks good.

    W124 Outside temperature gauge problem

I have the 10 degrees lower than actual temperature situation also. Good news is that it is always exactly 10 degrees out and as I'm the only one who ever really sees it I've been happy to leave it rather than try to fix it. Your problem sounds a bit more complicated. I'll watch this thread to...

    w124 coupe speaker options

Front dash speakers are 4", rear shelf speakers are 5.25" (or at least 5.25" speakers can fit into that space). I just had Alpines put in front and rear replacing the originals. Sound improvement is good, though not spectacular. I'm doing it a bit at a time to see how I like it. Next 2...

    Air Con dial question

Can anybody tell me what the dot on the fan dial (shown in the yellow square in the photo) relates to? It is a notch for the dial, but I can't work out what it is supposed to do. Pottering

    w124 coupe (95) - throttle body / MAF ?

I had a throttle body issue on a 1994 E320 coupe (000 141 57 25). First sign of trouble was the cruise control working sometimes, other times not. Eventually cruise vanished. Next was high idle, around 1,200 rpm. This was a real pain; car would come to a halt and thump back into second. Also...

    722.500 gearbox issues w124 coupe

Good result, always nice to hear of fixes that are straightforward and relatively low cost. This and other Merc forums seem inhabited by some who, when anyone raises a gearbox issue, immediately state with an apparently wise demeanor that a complete overhaul is required, generally at massive cost.

    722.500 gearbox issues w124 coupe

I (Perth, Australia) agree with Graeme (Perth, Scotland) that electrics could be a reason for the 5th gear problem. I have the 722.503 gearbox which was playing up by skipping 4th and going from 3rd to 5th and only downshifting when you sunk the boot into the accelerator (kick down). After...

    w124 300ce auto gearbox a nightmare

hardtoread? Perhaps. There is some punctuation, all the commas and full stops are there. No spaces between sentences, though strangely there are spaces before commas. By not capitalising (apart from the opening plea, "Help." and the second last sentence) thedoc01 has saved 4 keystrokes plus...

w124 Coupe Setbelt Feeder Triangle install

Agree with Grober. Spring isn't 100% essential, just means the belt doesn't lie flat when not clipped in. I changed mine one week ago, very simple. As detailed by others simply unclip the protective cover around the belt at the floor, remove bolt gently (to keep spring secure), slide off off...

Seat belt extender guide replacement issue

My driver's side seat belt extender guide (the triangular plastic thing) eventually wore through. Purchased a replacement, unbolted the belt at the floor, removed the old one, slipped on the new one and all is fine, almost. There's a cover that clips on at the base of the belt that goes...

    W123 & W124 - New member from Sydney

Coupe? Welcome aboard from a fellow Aussie w124 owner. I'm slightly confused though (not unusual). Your photo shows 2 sedans, both blue. The left one does look like a w123, but the right looks like a w126, and not a coupe. Am I missing something?

Cruise control and idling issue - W124

About the same time this idle problem appeared downshifting became temperamental. Very reluctant to downshift unless really booted. Mechanic thought linked to idle issue and wanted that sorted first. Once idle was good he determined that a gearbox solenoid was faulty. Cleaned up the wiring, ran...

Cruise control and idling issue - W124

Problem finally fixed by a remanufactured throttle body. Not as easy as it sounds, first three supplied throttle bodies were inoperative. Supplier kept sending units (he was a distributor, not the manufacturer) and eventually hit pay dirt. Idle is now steady around 750 revs and cruise...

    W124 Idles between 1500-2000rpm

I've had a similar issue with a 1994 E320. OVP change didn't help, changed cruise/idle ecu but same result and I'll be changing the throttle body in a couple of weeks, which I've got my fingers crossed will fix things. Will report back when it's done.

Maybbe it's just as well it's in the States, ... because you would have been disappointed to have paid all that money only to find out it's not a coupe, but a sedan. ;)
