    Brakes - Assuming a stone?

took the wheel off but can't see anything - definately front right, definately coming from the disc running through the pads - so likely a stone but a job for someone more skilled than me - looks like there is a scratch running the diameter of the disk at the back..

    Mileage Penalties !!!!!

i suspect that if it was in the contract, you'll likely have to pay - car finance company's aren't the friendliest beasts so you'd be relying on their potential good will.. good luck!

    Autobox on W211 from cold..

As an aside, it also bugs me the way mercedes autoboxes don't have a true manual mode - i used to like it in the bmws that you could do 1 thru 5 and back again as a manual, rather than the holding of 1,2,3,4,D in the MB

    Autobox on W211 from cold..

I've never had it changed - from the printout from MB it looked to have had it done at about 40k miles, it's now coming up for 70k so i've got it on my list to be done - just been too busy to book it in..

    Brakes - Assuming a stone?

From what i can hear then it seems to be the front, driving along with my head out of the window i'd say front right - just went round the block to listen - when i went round a roundabout a couple of times the scraping could be heard without the brakes on, and now driving along i can hear a...

    Autobox on W211 from cold..

W211 E320 CDI (04) I've noticed that from a cold start then the gearbox has a bit of difficulty - i do the same routine every day, and it does it every day from cold, though later in the day when warm then it doesn't. I start up, all good. Selector to R, handbrake off, footbrake off, and...

    Brakes - Assuming a stone?

W211 E320 CDI Driving home tonight all was hunky dory - pulled into the shops, on the way out noticed that when braking on the way out heard a funny noise so turned down Phil on the stereo and had a listen - when braking then it's making a scraping sound and feels a bit gritty through the...

    Non Merc.........Alfa 156 issue

It's not a pleasant bill - was about £500 - £750 for a cambelt change back when i had mine.. or are you mechanically minded enough to do it yourself? Seem to remember it was a pig of a job that required either front suspension and wheel off or a sharply turned wheel and some contortion of the body..

    Non Merc.........Alfa 156 issue

back in the day when i had my 156 then they (on the forums) recommended a 45k cam belt and variator change - from memory then also there was a 'newer' variator that wasn't plastic, whereas if replaced with another plastic one then it would still be likely to fail..

    Hand back to MB Finance

our slk goes back next week and reading this has got me a bit worried - it's in immaculate condition (we've kept it in cotton wool, figuratively) - but now i'm worried they're going to stiff me! the only thing i haven't been sure about is the service - the car was registered 08/08/08 but is...
