Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

Many thanks for all the responses. In the end I agreed a compromise of sending back a cheque for £250 (half the deposit) and the matter was closed amicably.

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

As a part of the 27 minute phone call I was told that I would go to a bank with him and he would withdraw the cash on his credit card and I would see it all happen and therefore trust him and see the interest he'd have to pay and blah blah blah and I stopped listening for a bit of a break. No...

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

He apparently bought a VW Passat TDi, collected on 8th January. Part of the sob story was that this subsequently broke down. So yes - he would have two cars? And yes, I've taken legal advice.

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

I was thinking of sending this. Any views? The table has lost its formatting but otherwise hopefully it makes sense. ----------------------------------------------- Dear Mr xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Re:- Sale of Mercedes Benz E320 CDi, re. xxxx yyy As discussed, you are in breach of...

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

Well he just called again tonight. I got a 27 minute (yes, 27 minutes - I timed it) sob story on how he was really a good person and he didn't mean this to happen and it wasn't his fault and he's incurred other costs too and etc etc etc. He then offered to buy the car by putting £9500 on...

Good Towing vehicle?? Hopefully A Boat

I've towed a classic saloon car with an E320 CDI for the last 4 years. It always worked fine and before the E class I had a Mondeo for 3 years. However towing will always be better with a 4X4. The higher tow bar makes the trailer less likely to start weaving and the towing weights are far far...

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

Fortunately it was cash. I read that 2004 thread about the Lexus with interest....!

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

Yes it is. He asked me to not use the car anymore when he gave me the deposit, I agreed and this was written into the receipt. I need a car for work and had to go out and buy one immediately. So for the past three weeks I've had a rather expensive taxed, insured and MOTd E class stored...

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

And obviously I've typed all that because I'm not 100% comfortable with keeping the deposit so I'm trying to justify it to myself...

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

When I was selling the car, I made it clear that the PP was not included and any buyer would need to wait for the Cherished Transfer. With hindsight this was a bad move, I didn't realise how long these things took. However I DID know by the time this buyer made the offer, so I clearly told...

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

Indeed! A most useful lesson learned. Many thanks for all the advice, yes I was also thinking he knows where I live but I also know where he lives. I have to trust the fact that he's not going to turn into a total scumbag, I'm not a charity. I plan to take further advice and obviously...

Selling an E320 CDI - Problems

Should be fairly simple I thought. Owned it from new, its immaculate with FMBSH. Get lots of calls, first people offer £11250 which I politely refuse. Next guy offers £11500 which I accept but he doesn't have a deposit on him. Anyway - two other guys turn up and after lots of haggling get to...

    Mercedes-oriented Track Day - who's interested?

Being I imagine one of the few people who has attempted a quick lap around Snetterton in a W210 E class, I won't be trying again. It would be difficult to imagine a car less suited to a race circuit, understeer was absolutely alarming.

    Old man's car???

Apologies for dragging up such an old thread but I just spotted this. I am 39 years and 3 months old and have been thinking of selling my E320 CDi because people keep saying "its an old mans car!". OK, so I've had it for nearly four years and I could do with a change too but the image of the...

    Stolen, W210 facelift mirrors

On a completely separate but related note my W210 facelift mirrors (Irish import) look like they should fold - but actually don't. Am I missing something or is it possible that the mirrors on Irish cars are different?

    Pirelli P Zero Rosso

So did I, they were fitted today. And in the Autocar 2004 tyre test they won hands down.

    New Tyres - E320 CDI

After 31000 miles on the original Pirelli P6000s, I've finally got round to arranging their replacements. After browsing the web for a while looking at tyre reviews and prices and reading Autocar's excellent tyre test results, I've gone for Goodyear F1 Eagles GSD3s all round. Not cheap but...

    Tramlining and handling issues.

Self centering problem may also be too much toe out. I doubt the castor is adjustable on a W210 so unless they've fitted something wrong....? Very sharp turn in and vague staright steering sounds like negative camber and lots of toe out. Good for a track day!

M6 Toll Road Speed Limit- potential GTG

The M6 toll is of course public highway and subject to all the laws in the Road Traffic Act. However as a regular user I would add that patrol cars are few and far between (I've never seen one), the road surface is very smooth and there are some nice sweeping bends too. Having tried my E320...

    E240 or E270cdi ?

I'm another vote for the diesel. After 20 years in petrol cars including a TVR Chimaera, the most impressive motorway performance I've known is from the E320 CDi in the garage now. And its not just about the acceleration. Its effortless, everywhere. And it gets 45MPG on a run so I don't...
