MB Selling their South London Dealerships

I have used Mercedes Benz Brooklands ever since it opened and before that Woking Motors which is where the service staff came from. Took the car in last week and the experience has certainly detiorated. Even though the car was booked in well in advance, they phoned up later in the day on which...

Emergency generator - would this work??

I have a Honda 2700w petrol generator which provides clean 240v power and i use it to power an American fridge freezer plus lights plus central heating boiler and pump. It does not stall and will provide about 8 hours power on a full tank of petrol. I have wired a reverse lead from the IEC...

W124 - what is this switch on the dashboard for?

W124 cars were often fitted with MBSS alarm systems at the time of purchase by the dealer. The MBSS system was a system produced by Scorpion alarm systems for Mercedes in the UK. It includes ultrasonic interior sensors typically fitted on the door A pillars. The switch in your photo is the...

    Engine getting hot

Try the simple stuff first like thermostat and radiator cap. After this I would suspect the water pump or the thermo switch for the aux fans being faulty/intermittent.

    W124 15" tyres

Very interesting WDB124066 - I note you have two E320 sportline cabs - are they both the same with Continental PC2 fitted or Michelin? The reason why I ask is that one thing that people always comment about my E320 Cab is how smooth the ride is with none of the crash bang that you describe. So...

    W124 15" tyres

I would agree that in general going to a 17" wheel size with a 45 aspect tyre will make a difference to ride quality. However, depending on the tyre and it's characteristics it may or may not be a huge difference. The comparision I did was with new tyres not old so the comparision is valid. I...

    W124 15" tyres

Not really - whilst it is generaly true that a tyre with a lower Load Index should give a softer ride than one with a higher load index, it is not always the case when you move between brands. For example Continental tyres , particularly the more established types have a tendency to have a...

    W124 15" tyres

A Sportline E320 Cab comes with the Sportline wheels with 205/60 R15 tyres in most commonly a 91W rating for later cars (W124nut seems to have an early car which was fitted with V rated 205/60R15 according to his data card) If you want to stay with the factory rated tyres at 91W then there is...

    W124 15" tyres

Continental Premium Contact 5 are only available in 15" with the size 195/65R15 91H which is not suitable for E320 normal or Sportline. I run Continental PC5 on another of my cars albeit in a different size - the ride is very firm and I would be very surprised if they suit the W124.

    W124 15" tyres

Further update. Over the weekend, I had my still legal but old Michelin Pilot HX 205/60R15 91W tyres replaced for new 205/60R15 91W Continental Premium Contact 2 all round. The new Continental tyres do produce a firmer ride than the older Michelin ones but the ride is still very Mercedes W124...

    nice A124 with brazil interior

There are some inaccuracies in the ad and also some worrying replacements. Firstly, the list price of £68,000 is ridiculous - I have the original MB price list from the period and there is no way you could get the car up to £68,000. The E320 came pretty highly specced in any case although this...

New Shell VPower Nitro + Launched

    1. I said under just under 50% of all fuel for supermarkets. The article which describes this is Supermarkets now sell almost half of all petrol sold in UK - Telegraph As you say the exact figure is 45.52 i.e. 4.48% under 50 %. 2. Teeside refinery closed in 2009. The Lindsey terminal is the...

New Shell VPower Nitro + Launched

I put Shell V Power petrol into all my performance cars and use Shell V Power Diesel in my daily driver. I have also used Tesco Super 99 now called Momentum 99 when used to shop at Tesco's. Let's have a look at some facts rather than unproven claims. Fact 1 - Supermarkets now sell just under...

What speakers should I put in a 124 dash while the windscreen is out?

WDB - I have the same car as you (1996 E320 Cab Sportline) and I have fitted the Rainbows. I personally find them very good and they fit very well. I also tried other dash speakers in an W124 E320 Estate MBQuart in this case and found them too bright. The standard Blaunpunkt speakers are pretty...

    w124 e320 coupe wheels

The car would most probably have been supplied with Michelin tyres which as you have 15" 8 hole alloys implies a 205/60 R15W fitment or 195/55 R 15W. Michelin no longer produce tyres with this speed rating - there are not all that many options Continental do produce an tyre in 205/60R91W rating...

    W124 air vent control bulbs?

I think Rob77 is talking about the circular wheels next to the air flow vents at either end of the dashboard and in the centre of the dahsboard and you are talking about the control knobs in the centre console. Carat 3.6 amg has given the correct instructions and he has correctly pointed out the...

    Concrete question

errmm did you actually read the link you posted? Most of your links are generally good links that give great information. This link was rubbish and assumed you had detailed project plans from an architect or suchlike which the poster probably does not have.

    O2 customers get a life.

I have been doing an experiment with all the major phone networks in terms of 3G reception as I stream internet radio in the car to and from work. i.e. into and out of London from Surrey. My business Iphone 4S is on Vodafone and they do seem to have 3G issues in areas. I have got a personal...
