Thanks Dave, the central locking pump was my first port of call having read about them getting submerged in water, usually as a consequence of the rear wash jet hose leaking into the boot. Fortunately it was dry and im hoping it will stay like that!

An update on the central locking issue, manged to fix the problem very easily! The vac pipe for the rear door had come away from the point it connects into the B pillar. This was also causing the boot lock failure as there was not enough air pressure build up to lock it. Listening carefully...

Its not just the C class that suffers from this! My 2003 W211 E class had exactly the same problems, replaced both indicator bulb holders at a cost of about £10.

had similar symptoms on my e220 cdi (2003). Turned out to be a faulty actuator related to the turbo. Dealer replaced the entire turbo unit under warranty. Does it reset and drive ok if u restart the engine or is it constantlt present (the power loss), mine was intermittent.
