    Mega Yacht Radar Domes

Corned, Well could be GPS. It isn't usual to put the GPS "short-stick" or marine "pancake" antennae in a dome, unless it is for aesthetic reasons. GPS is relatively low powered and the dome might significantly affect signal strength in remote coverage areas, particularly high north or deep south...

    Mega Yacht Radar Domes

Qualifications.... Such a yacht would have a permanent crew (deck crew, officers like enginneers, chef, and Skipper of course)... but it would not be unusual to take on extra local hands at a port if staying some time in the region. These locals would be anything from deck hands, waiters &...

    Mega Yacht Radar Domes

A bit more ... Well, thanks Howard - I tries me best. Thought there would be normal horizontal scanners, there might be a couple of reasons why there are two scanners. Most usually, one is medium (50-70nm range), and the other longer range (why would even a mega-yacht owner need 200nm+ range...

    Mega Yacht Radar Domes

Radar Domes ? White Nemesis... They are not all radar domes, maybe none of them are actually radar. Satellite TV and satellite phone/internet use similar dome designs - they are deliberately designed to match the "radar domes". So there may be multiple sat comms channels. If you are posh...

Probably one of the greatest inventions ever....

Oh - and P. S. Using the brake hold gets rid of the slight delay (as the clutch to TC re-engages) when driving off on Blue Efficiency car. Like I said, so I like that too. P.

Probably one of the greatest inventions ever....

There are several posts in this thread for W212 E classes which DO roll back (more than a little) in D. Mine certainly does. As to left foot braking, the rallying/racing boys do that to keep the throttle on and thus avoid any throttle lag on accelerating after braking. I personally don't see...

    Cat Lover?

Google "Simons Cat" for the official website with a few more videos. Very well observed I think - I wasn't a cat lover until I got one by accident. Mine had [:(] exactly the same behaviour programming as Simons ! P.

Ta, Bald Guy. I love the Simon's cat stuff. Hadn't checked in a while. Another perfectly observed piece. :p P.

SBC - probably an embarassing question.

Hi All, Errr... Just been reading on "another mercedes forum" about SBC on the braking system, and that it has a fixed or limited operational life. So, new to MB's and not terribly up to speed on all the abbreviations and the model codes, etc, my questions are : 1. What is the SBC - what...

    What makes you cringe...

Illustration of FCB.... Just to expand on, and illustrate, my point above... I tell all of my pub-buddies, that Mrs Philnix #2 and I are blissfully happy. She tells her girly lunch mates that "there is no such thing as an ugly rich bloke ". :p

    What makes you cringe...

What's the female equivalent of MCP ? Oh, I say ! MCP?;) Women can be just as chauvinistic..... so what do we call them ? Female Chauvinistic .... err, what ? Not Pig (that'd be rude, and likely to cause trouble !). FC Beaver, perhaps ?:p

    Is this normal behaviour

The Options List - and 'Er Indoors... PS… A bit more on the dreaded options list….. GTIone, did your conversation with Mrs GTIone go something like " I think we should change the car, Daaarling. I fancy one of those ……. (insert car of choice) – Look, they’re only £xxxxx. That’s pretty good...

    Is this normal behaviour

Normal Behaviour ? Errrr... Yep - I think it is. I'm sure someone will be along in a mo' to say otherwise, and it's only a car, but... each to their own. And, you left out the weeks before placing the order, poring over the brochures, vacillating over colour choices, engine size, the dreaded...

Probably one of the greatest inventions ever....

Akhan - you have to "prod" the brake pedal while pressing it at standstill. As Dreamworks said, it then comes up HOLD on the dash display. Assuming the car has it.

Spot on Pontoneer Well, Spot on Pontoneer... I think you've pretty much summed it up, the rest of us (well, me certainly) struggling somewhat to put it as well. BTW... heven't heard "trafficate" for a long while ! P.

Probably one of the greatest inventions ever....

Hi Toodeep. Yes, it was the Land Rover auto park brake I was thinking of when I made the comment about some other cars - don't know about the RRS but I had a Discovery on loan for a short while (don't ask why - it still hurts !!) and thought it a bit more 21st Centrury and it worked well - but...

Highway Code - rule 130 - boxed chevrons

Hmmmm, that's an interesting one Hi-Ho. I'll have used that junction very occasionally, but never thought anything particular about it. Never really been there in traffic. Will think about it next time I'm through there. Or not, maybe. It does seem a less obvious case than a turn-right lane...
