Perfectly legal. The law states there must be a minimum 11mm border of reflective material surrounding each letter. Measure mine and there is just over 11mm around each letter. Nowhere in law does it state they have to be rectangular, or any other specific shape.

Charges at auction houses can differ. You would be OK selling your Ferrari at Charles Taylor's because the 10% is a buyer's premium. No charge to the seller. Another auction I go to only charges a 5% buyer's premium but also charges the seller 5%.
