Hi, I've got hold of a new indicator unit from Mercedes and at the moment can't figure out how to take the mirror apart in order to fit it. Does anyone have any ideas? All the instructions I seem to find are for the earlier style W211 mirrors. Mine are as pictured below. Cheers

What on a W124?? how? you'd have to chop a hole in the inner arch and cut the drive shaft in half to get any sort of room around the spring :confused:

No, they do not fit in what little space there is.

I've got this too in My 94 E200! weird. I've not found any filter either. If you find any let us know :)

Does anyone know where i can hire the Mercedes style spring compressor from? I'm in Guildford (S/E). I got myself a set of slightly lower springs and judt went to fit them but my normal spring compressors don't fit at all. I know they are VERY expensive to buy (£800ish) so i'm not up for that.

It's probably just a head gasket, but will only know by taking the head off and having a look. Fixing that is a few hundred pounds. I thought the bottom ends go on for ever.

They look very badly polished and thats nowhere near a mirror finish! looks like someones just quickly gone over them with the a black and decker with flapper wheel then a mop.

I pulled mine appart trying to replace the bulb and all the springs came out and its a mess so i need a new one. Merc say they only sell the complete unit with the 4 window switches and the mirror adjustment swtich and cost £160 ish. :crazy: I only want the joystick unit and it ealsiy unplugs...

Sounds like the motor arm has popped out off the runner on the bottom of the window or it could be a stripped motor gear. You will need to pull off the the door card and have look in side the door, the problem should be obvoius once you can see in side. If a new motor assembly is needed...
