For caravanners' eyes only - we're getting a new one!!

Ours is exactly like this, and it DID cool whilst driving. However, even though it still behaves in the same way regarding the lights / warning it no longer cools due to the element having failed. This was diagnosed by the dealer whose test rig checks the current as well as the voltage. I am...

    W166 Rear springs.

I’ve had a better look at the other side now the car is on stands and found the paint mark shown on the attached photo. I was expecting a band rather than just a smear but could this mean my spring is “white”

    W166 Rear springs.

Yes, and cannot see anything on it. I now have the spring out (it’s in three pieces!) and the only paint is a small blob of yellow. Unfortunately yellow isn’t an option. I am assuming both rear springs are aftermarket ones. I went to the main dealer who has a “pink” one on the shelf and it...

    W166 Rear springs.

My 2012 ML 350 Diesel has just failed its MOT on a broken rear spring. I have tried to get a price from MB but they need to know what colour stripe the spring has, green, pink, white or brown. Unfortunately I cannot see any stripe, possibly because it is beneath a plastic sleeve around the top...

    Bike racks

Three reasonable road bikes may add up to 26kg but if you talk MTB (or BSO) you could be looking at more like 42kg. I have a three bike carrier on the back of my caravan, whilst I will carry three carbon road bikes I will only ever carry 2 MTBs with anything else on the car roof. I have NEVER...

    Cardle - Daily Car Quiz

I got it in one. However it appears to be case sensitive so I get no credit for it!!

    Any good samaritans out there?

She does remind me how lucky I am quite often!

    Any good samaritans out there?

It's not impolite at all, thanks for showing an interest. She is really well thanks, quite a miracle considering how long she was in VF. She has very slight issues with her attention span that she didn't have before but I'll take that when you consider where we could be at; survival rates for...

    Any good samaritans out there?

I gained training as part of my scuba diving training, I believe many diving schools offer first aid / cpr & AED training. St John's ambulance can provide training as can a number of charities. I have also had training at work in the past, if you get a certificate for this then you can sign...

    Any good samaritans out there?

As an avid cycling fan I was watching the "Hell of the north" Paris - Roubaix race yesterday and was reminded of the fact that last year's winner, Sonny Colbrelli, recently suffered a cardiac arrest whilst competing in Spain. Unike footballers such as Christian Eriksen and Fabrice Muamba it...

    Land Rover Defender

I have seen a few of these around with ridiculous looking "pannier bag" type things attached. What is that all about?!

Mercedes ML 270 CDI Issue with Transmission.

With the car on the ground stick it in reverse (try low range even) and give it some beans! (This is what I would do but I do not offer any assurances that it will work / not do further damage!) The lining of the shoes may just as likely come off the shoe as it is the drum so you will be best...

Highway Code changes effective from January 29th

He may have moved over as far as he could but it wasn't the requisite 2m at the speed he was travelling, therefore he should have at least slowed down but probably stopped. Have to agree that the rider was a danger to themselves. Personally I have suffered far worse close passes and I would...

Highway Code changes effective from January 29th

Have you ridden with clipless pedals? I do all the time and they are not a hazard at all, far from it as they give much better bike control. The caveat is that you should get used to them before mixing with traffic, not sure she had! I do agree however that the clip does not give enough...

    OM642 V6 induction noise?

I imagine the market in vans for conversion to campers is also pushing prices up now that "staycations" are the new thing.

    OM642 V6 induction noise?

That joint looks ok to me; as johnsco stated if it were leaking there would be plenty of oily residue around it. Sounds more like an air leak upstream of the turbo, is the air filter housing(s) intact? Is all of the ducting properly connected / free of splits. Personally I do like a bit of...

W163: About to change the (plastic) engine fuel lines, am I missing something?

Probably a good idea to get hold of new clips to hold them in place as they get brittle, I broke the hinged one under the high pressure pump and thought "it'l be alright". I was wrong, the new pipe rested on the fan belt and wore through resulting in a fuel leak. No manual priming BTW but you...

    Towing a caravan . Cooling issues ?

I was looking at nearly new Skoda Kodiaqs as a tow car. Unless the original owner specified a towbar OR tow bar preparation when the car was new they now come with zero plated towing weight so it would be illegal to fit a towbar. Clearly Skoda think the tow bar prep is very important (whatever...

    Rear door lock fault

Does this happen all the time or intermittently? Does the door pin pop up but the door refuses to open, from inside and / or outside? We have an intermittent one on our 2012 ML where the door pin pops but the door will not open from inside or outside.
