    w124 seats

Hi All I'm thinking about buying a W124, probably a saloon. I'd like one with leather seats, but I've seen a good one with cloth seats. Before I go to see it, can anyone tell me: can I fit seats from any year of w124? If i found some good leather seats, but they were electric or heated...

    w124 230e mpg

Hi All I'm looking at buying a W124. Overall condition is the most important thing for me, closely followed by economy, which rules out the +3litre cars for me. There's a 1991 230e auto saloon for sale with leather that's caught my eye. How's the mpg on these? I've also been looking at...

    w124 300d 0-60?

Hi All I'm wondering if anyone has any 0-60 figures for a 1991/2 300d saloon with automatic gearbox? I don't expect it to be a rocket, but my current 1.6 rover auto feels a bit pathetic, especially going up hills. I imagine that the 300d feels a bit more unstoppable! Would I be right? As...

Hi all I'm looking at buying a 1996 w210, but there is no service book with the car. Other than trying to speak to the previous owners, is there any way to trace the history? Thanks Rich

as an alternative, how is easy is it to just swap the leather covers for the fabric ones, or can you just swap the 'spongey' bits over on the seat frame?

w210 - which one to choose

I'm not so sure that the diesel is more econimcal these days. It has better MPG, but it costs more to fill up. I'd still like to know how many litres of fuel people normally put in their cars and how many miles you can cover, so i can compare the different engines in the real world? I bet...

W124 - does anyone know this car?

this E320 has appeared at my local auction, it has 196k on the clock. Does anyone know it? I haven't seen it yet, but I know it's got at least one rusty wing. I have had a chance to look at some of the history, which seems to go upto about 178k miles. I did spot it had a wiring loom at £199 a...

w210 - which one to choose

I think it's going to be a 230, 240 or 300td. The most important thing for me is getting the best car in my price range, rather than a specific engine i think. I would like the power of the diesel, but i spend most of my time tootling around on country roads, so I don't get much chance to move...

w210 - which one to choose

I've got my eye on a 1996 E230 avantgarde auto estate with leather. It's done 120K. I haven't seen it in the flesh yet, all cars look good in the photo's! It's priced at £1500, so could be what I'm looking for. What should I be checking for though? Cheers Rich.

w210 - which one to choose

hi everybody I've been looking for a new car for a while. I started looking for a W124, but for the same money I could have a w210. I only want to spend around £1500, and I don't want something that's been to the moon and back! Although the diesels are tempting, finding a good one, with...

    W124 E220 Economy

Hi eleven Your journeys sound similar to mine. How many litres do you normally use to cover 380-410 miles? I think I'm going to get my current car fixed, it'll be worth more as a part-ex and give me time to find a good MB. Cheers Rich.

How do you spot a multi valve diesel?

Oh, I forgot to ask.... I've read that the diesel isn't the quickest car to accelerate. Where I live, the are quite a few steep, long forest roads, how would the diesel or the E220 cope with them? There are no motorways here - which is the way I like it ;-)

How do you spot a multi valve diesel?

hi all I'm serioulsy thinking about buying a W124, but economy is important. having read lots of posts and looked at lots of sites, it seems a multi valve diesel could be a good option for me. However, many of the classified ads don't make it clear what type of diesel a car is, and not being a...
