What is a "Vehicles Clamped" sign?

That may sound like a stupid question but bear with me a moment. To me, it means that you risk having a Denver Boot clamped onto one of your cars wheels if you park in that area but to my wife it is just something else to reverse into and then say, "Oooops, I forgot that this car has a boot"...

Am I allowed to post a link?

Hey,thanks Koolvin. nice one. Wheelie..... Simple matter of my missus not being happy with the manual aspect of it. We're both heading for 60 at great speed and health probs mean her left leg is a bit suss. In retrospect, I should have done more research before buying this manual version and...

Am I allowed to post a link?

Hi peeps, My car is up for sale on eBay but I don't want to post a link to it in case that would be against the rules. Is it? Or would it be OK to provide a link direct to my auction? Cheers, Steve

Hi guys and guyesses(?) I'm hoping one of you is going to say "I had exactly the same problem and this is what fixed it. Sorry if it's a bit on the long side. SYMPTOMS....Neither alarm nor central locking/unlocking work via key fob. BACKGROUND.... When I first bought this car, one press of...

Cack pants moment on the M40 this evening ....

I don't suppose for one minute that the puff of blue smoke is anything to do with a short, sharp meeting between the tyre and the bodywork if the heavily laden rear end goes over a bump. One that you wouldn't notice yourself because of the suspension? Or am I just a new owner thicko?

    smart cars

I too have had a test drive in a Smart car albeit a bog standard one. I have to admit that for a 2 person family they are pretty good. They have the appeal that for a relatively small cash layout you get a car with a bit of GO to it and the all-important fun factor.

    smart cars

Word has it that the boffins at Merc are designing a mod so that a Smart car will fit in the boot of a proper car. (Just kidding, they already will fit, lol)

    eBay Scam

BTW, the shed was built by my son and I over 3 weekends at a cost of £1000. A very poor facsimile could have been bought and erected by a firm specialising in such things for £2,400 and that is without insulation + 2 seperate security systems + electrics. (would you believe 16 power points?)...

    eBay Scam

sp!ke, NO INSULATION ??????? You must be joking. There is a double wall system with loft insulation between the walls, 6 inch thick insulating poly under the floor and 4 inches of fibre-foam between inner and outer roofing. Believe me when I say it is insulated. lol BTW, The parrot never...

    Auto v Manual gearbox.

Thanks, Shude. I read through that thread just now and there are loads of good stuff to compare the 2 options but no mention of fuel economy differences which, as a poor relative to most of you Merc owners, is a big deal for me. To be honest, most of the techie points raised went right over...

    Auto v Manual gearbox.

Hi peeps, As a fairly new Merc owner, 190E manual, (old Merc but new owner) I was wondering if there was any chance of you guys explaining the pro's and con's of having either a manual or automatic gearbox. I ask because we have never had an auto except for 2 or 3 weeks at a time in Yank...
