Another case of car park damage

It infuriates me when that happens....I go to a lot of country shows, which ineveitably leads to parking in fields....and like you I always leave ample space between adjacent vehicles....but I have noticed over the last two or three years where people park right in close to you as if they were in...

    C350 CDI European Road Trip

Just back from a week in Monaco and the French Riviera and I can identify with what you're saying 55NF. We flew down to Nice and due to Hertz car rentals being in high season....the C220CDI i booked was double booked and they gave me a brand new 520D BMW auto, fully loaded. To be fair...the...

    Improving MPGs

Get rid of the EGR system...and decat it....use some injector lubricator/cleaner....you will see a definite improvement....if you can get 45mpg from an OM606 in a W210 chassis, then you have some very diligent driving skills there.

    New glow plug needed?

This unit is plug and play....if it ain't broke....don't fix it....I do spray a little bit of WD40 around the connectors once in a while though,to keep moisture away

    re-connect EGR for MOT?

Put her back on 100% diesel.....check your fuel filter, prefilter, tank pick up filter, banjo bolts, connectors etc....you'll be surprised what you will find.....and as Dieselman said....put a strong dose of injector cleaner through it. If your OM606 failed its smoke test.....it certainly ain't in...

E270cdi turbo overboosting and going into limp mode

Sounds like a plan Billy....Garrett recently told us at a technical seminar you cannot purchase/replace the electronic actuator separately as each unit is calibrated to each specific turbo.....could be the root of your problem perhaps....I was diagnosing 'overspeeding' in my previous post...

Limp mode then Engine light sporadically comes on,stays below 3000 rpm

The EGR system gums up the inlet manifold...flaps in the inlet manifold...and the variable vanes in the turbocharger etc etc etc.... and causes all sorts of headaches. In reality, the whole system only needs a good clean.....a days work albeit a very dirty one....but, unfortunately, this is where...

    S320 CDI Turbo issues

Check your front pulley/vibration damper...it's an old favourite for these symptoms

E270cdi turbo overboosting and going into limp mode

Leave the cats alone!....if they are removed and the engine ran fine beforehand...leave them off......unless you want to loose about 10mpg and about 30 bhp. The egr system only operates on idle and over run....and I would imagine whoever fitted the cylinder head would have cleaned out same...

E320CDI engine 'surging' on light throttle setting

Aside from the normal maintenance of your engine....check air & fuel filters, inlet manifold/egr system for function/cleanliness,electrical connectors for integrity and cleanliness. We had this issue on an OM 613 in a W210 several years ago as well and discovered the front pulley/vibration...

    Intake mani W210 320CDI removal

Just did a similar job on one of our cars.....the same model/version as yours. In addition to thee above,we disabled the egr, mechanically and electronically, decatted the exhaust system by removing the guts of the three cats/dpf filters....end result....the mpg has gone from 29mpg to over...

Limp mode then Engine light sporadically comes on,stays below 3000 rpm

Disconnect your egr electronically and blank it off mechanically ......and you will have no further further problems with your CDI

    c220cd1 2004 high rev problems

Hi Headache, Was the intercooler flushed out after the new turbo was fitted?......sounds very much like your engine ran on engine oil.....I have engines with new turbos doing this because the oil which by-passed the old turbo settled in the intercooler. Take off the intercoller outlet pipe...
