320 CDI, Kick down, is it slowing me down?

The cars had a remap. Basically I want full throttle but no gear change, I think the engine has the torque to do this and get away from the clumsy and slow gear change down. The accelerator has a pot on it for normal op but it also has a button type switch that's made when the pedal hits the...

320 CDI, Kick down, is it slowing me down?

The amount of time it seems to take my car to kick down then accelerate when I boot it makes me wonder if removing the kick switch from the accelerator pedal may improve things. Has anyone done this, are there any implications?

    Stuck glow plug...decisions decisions

I have a glow plug that's stuck in my CLK CDI 2005, I have took it to my independent who tried to remove it and couldn't. they told me its better to leave it than attempt to take it out and break it. They could use a third part to remove it....... They also said that its not really an issue when...

    W209 CLK windscreen drain

I have had recent issues with leaks into a coupe, a real nightmare. I cleaned all the channels running from under the front screen, the ones at the side drain through the wings behind both the wheels, remove the plastic pegs at the bottom of the wheel arch and remove the sludge from there...

    Favourite city?

So, what is your favourite city in the world and why? I'm a big fan of exploring sprawling cities and metropolises when I am on my travels and am lucky enough to have been to a fair few over the last ten years or so. For me.... 1 Lisbon great working city. Nightlife and the people, love it...

CLK 320cdi SRS, Display malfunction & brake fluid

Further update, problem came back Sunday. It seemed to be related to rainfall. I have checked two drainage channels inside the bonnet, left and right side. The one above the battery was blocked, I had to remove the battery and the drainage pipe to clear it out, there was water present under the...

CLK 320cdi SRS, Display malfunction & brake fluid

Connected the battery yesterday and all the faults, apart from a new one "tyre pressure sensor not available", cleared. Drove it to the indy and they found all the faults stored but not current....I'm just going to have to wait and hope its fixed itself , think i maybe be joining the...

    Bomber Command memorial

It was the aircrews duty to do as they were ordered, not to question the morality of it all. They died to serve our Country........... My Grandad was a rear gunner in a Wellington bomber. Only those who have flown under such circumstances can begin to understand the fear that those boys went...

    €Cars€

Honda did a decent enough job with the triumph acclaim, people who i have worked with said the japenese, at the production engineering side of things, did a good job. To quote " better than BMW." My experience reflects that of st13phil, the problems really do start at the top within large...

    Remapping

Improved my cars response, not as much as previous cars i have done though (1.9 tdi VAG), as that was pushed from 130 bhp to 180 bhp, quite a difference. Angel do group buys through this forum, £150 per car (by memory) took mine to one early this year. May be best to wait for another or try...

is it possible for the uk to build and sell a cheap car

The dash and the screens are possible but the amount of breakdowns and the recovery time caused by trim variations are inhibitive. BIW use jigs to hold panels in position before welds / rivets are set. I work programming robots, ABB and Kawasaki (Comau)........Trim will always (95% of the time)...

is it possible for the uk to build and sell a cheap car

Robots cant trim cars, their used mainly in the BIW process. I think we could build cars cheaply in the UK, we have the skill and the labour, its just the vision from those with the power to invest thats missing. If you can make millions by moving your money around then why would you get your...

    Branded or non Branded tyre?

The first thing i would look when buying a car is what tyres are on it, if they are cheap then the services also have a strong chance of being on the cheap side. The cars age and value has a certain amount of influence. £60 tyres on a car worth £12,000+ would start the bells ringing. I have...
