    Replacement VIN Tags

I am sure that I read thebd8rectuons on a sale site. It insisted that the buyer send their VIN plate in. I am not sure how they would cater for people like me with the VIN plate gone. I will make direct enquiries. Thanks all.

    Replacement VIN Tags

Absolutely - V5 with a history of ownership, dated photographs of the VIN etc. But, I am under the impression that the VIN stampers need more than that? Unless I am mistaken. Can we get replacement from Mercedes itself?

    Replacement VIN Tags

Hello all, bit of a crisis here. I have just recovered my 1969 W114 250CE car that went missing while it was being refurbished by a company (the company has closed down, owner fled - lets not go there). The car is missing its front strut (the one over the radiator, that carries the VIN tag and...

    W114 - new H4 bowls?

Hi all, Could anyone advise me if I can get replacement headlamp bowls to go behind my headlights? Being a 69, I suspect it carries the old OSRAM BILUX bulbs and a reflector bowl to suit. Might as well get rid of it and upgrade the lights to the most modern standards possible? Warmest Regards

Grafting W215 seats into an older Merc ?

That's a good point Alex. I have been looking at the w209 seats which were in my 270 CL. I have seen the offered as manual. But, they were never particularly comfortable. I would like something a bit plush if at all possible. I have an hour commute each way now and life seems a tad more hurty as...

Grafting W215 seats into an older Merc ?

I had a look at the E63 seats. They do look comfortable. Mercs LOOK comfortable, so aesthetics are on the Merc side. That is an interesting idea re lo tech switches to run modern seats. I can grab some w114 switches to run 124, 215 type seats, I guess. I[emoji102] Sent from my SM-G965F using...

Grafting W215 seats into an older Merc ?

Hello, I suspect the overall weight would have only increased a wee bit as the vehicle is reasonably stripped down? But, I had no idea these were so heavy. I would love an ultra comfortable set of modern front seats. Even better as manual. Older recaros would be well used by now. Any more...

Grafting W215 seats into an older Merc ?

Hi all I am trying to find out info on how I could have the W215 CL seats installed into an older Merc (eg W114). All I want is the electrical adjustments to work - Memory is not needed, Heating and Vibratory functions would be welcome by that is a bonus. Can these seats alone, be just...

W219 seats can; are their electrics independent?

Not an issue. I was hoping to install more "stylish" seats, considering the age of the car. The CLS seats carry the look and promise comfort? Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

W219 seats can; are their electrics independent?

Thank You for that. So I need to read-up on CanBus and workarounds before I go at this. Any ideas if there are suppliers for somekind of CanBus emulation or a sparky who might be capable of rewiring the seats to just afford me the basic forward, back, up, down and similar for the back rest?? I...

W219 seats can; are their electrics independent?

Hi all, I was looking at installong W219 or CL500 seats into a W114. I notice these are all electric. Do you know if these can be made to function with just a power feed or do they need things like body control modules and stuff to work effectively? I like the look of the W219 seats, they look...

Best W124 model for an LPG conversion?

Ah rats, thank you. I think I have the picture now. About 6 years ago, when I started this W114 thing, I got advice from Nigel Martin Ball (NMBV8, OSIRIS guy who used to turn out Merc large cc conversions in Devon), to get a W124 CE to while away the time. Regret not doing it then itself! I...

Best W124 model for an LPG conversion?

Cannit beat a Land Rover or a Merc forum for a lovely and literate technical exchange! I have seen the W124 300-24 mentioned here. Is that an EFI too, like the 320? The more I look at this, the CL500 looks like a comparable risk!

Best W124 model for an LPG conversion?

Apologies Stephen, it was in reply to popuptoasters advice to find a diesel converted w124 or make one usong the fumds for LPG conversion. BTW, LPG can be used with diesel. It's just not common. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Best W124 model for an LPG conversion?

I simply couldn't go through getting a diesel conversion again - the last episode was AWFUL! I would think the same aversion exists with a big CC LPG capable modern MB Petrol engine conversion. I am not concerned with finding LPG stations locally - there are at least two current ones en-route...

Best W124 model for an LPG conversion?

Hi all, While I wait for my W114 to be patched up (Glacial, does NOT describe the pace with any justice!), I would love to ditch my dependable Civic and drive around in a W124 coupe. Problem is that I do about 30k a year and LPG would probably be the best option. I have looked at the 300E and...

W114 Floorpans same in Saloon and Coupe?

Hi all, I was thinking of replacing the floorpans of my W114 Coupe, than patching them. The pans I can find are all Saloon by the looks of it. Can someone tell me if these pans are the same or are there differences? Thanks

    will MBSTAR help detect clocking?

That's a good point. I think these were Michelin's or Goodyear. I guess even the makes won't help predictions as the compound might vary model-to-model. I might have to just crawl around and check discs, mounts, bushes and stuff.

    will MBSTAR help detect clocking?

??!!? What's wrong with losing about 10mm of rubber in 10k?....it would be the manner of driving that led to the loss and the subsequent effects on the suspension and drivetrain. Mine go 20-25k on Fallen FK452s.
