    Cracked Wheel

PS The wheels I am waiting for are from Dezent (U's) who apparently are manufacturers for Mercedes, if that is what OEM means ! Not going to let on the cost so as not to invite umpteen posts telling me where I could have got them cheaper and peeing me off ! Merry Xmas all

    Cracked Wheel

Just found this thread after having to take the car in for what I thought was a slow puncture on the front nearside. They found a crack on the inside rim and as a temporary measure the mechanic suggested swapping front to back to ease the battering on the tyre while I searched for a solution...

Thanks for the hint, it hasn't done it again since shortly after the wheel change, so I'm hoping for just a jumping spare !

clanging from rear of c class estate

Got a c180 estate, had to change to 'get you home' spare on off rear -side the other day. Since replacing spare back into the well I have had the odd clank on sharp bumps. I assume it is the spare not secured properly, but it is in the 'will have to have a look' category so cannot confirm. ...

    Lidl Roof Bars

Given time and opportunity that's what I would have done, but this was all on the day of traveling home, so Sods Law was in operation !

    Lidl Roof Bars

Agreed if I had been at home and in reach of my tools. Unfortunately I didn't have anything in the car suitable and had to rely on the good will and limited tools of the roof box seller, plus messing about on the pavement with only his gate post top as a workbench was a bit limiting ! Still the...

    Lidl Roof Bars

Bought a set a while back on the premise 'at that price might well as get some just in case' A couple of days back this became the case when I needed to carry some extra stuff and bought a Karrite Roof Box on Fleabay. That is when I found out that the Lidl bars are a fraction of an inch wider...

Snipping tool causes screen to go grey

I changed over and am quite happy with it. Small and keeps out of the way and just gets on with its job. Not being a computer buff, it would be interesting to hear verdict from them wot are !

    Farmer removes "travellers"!

Just noticed yesterday where these 'travellers' headed after their encounter with the indignant farmer - Stubbington on the village green ! At least I think it is them as one is a small truck similar to that pictured moving on from the farmer's field No farmer here with a digger just the powers...

    HM Customs Phishing Scam

Further to above I realize that ups.com is indeed their correct address, but the way the mail was presented, the senders name was 'none delivery of parcel' (or similar) and the subject title was a mishmash word of symbols !

    HM Customs Phishing Scam

Now I am starting to doubt the assurances about theses mails being coincidental ! I missed a small parcel that wouldn't fit the letter box yesterday and sent an email to the Royal Mail arranging for redelivery on Saturday. This morning I received an automated acknowledgment from them plus...

    HM Customs Phishing Scam

I had that one a while ago and it was uncanny as we were waiting for an overdue parcel, I have been assured that this was pure coincidence. Anyway I committed the cardinal sin and opened it and followed the instructions to print out local ups addresses and nothing happened ! Like an idiot I...

    HM Customs Phishing Scam

I realize that the majority of us nowadays exercise caution with dodgy looking mails, but if there wasn't someone out there at risk then these tossers who invent them wouldn't bother as there would be no money in it. I have posted a similar note on a couple of other forums I am on and if I have...

    Russian Drivers

That's what I thought Years ago when I was still at sea we were coming back to the ship in Leningrad (I know, it's not called that now !) on one of the single decker trams driven by one of the usual, formidable, lady drivers. A big old truck with a cherry picker thing on the back came flying...

Seeking Help. WWII Merchant Navy - City of Bath - Ellerman Lines

Hi Bruce, yes I read the posts over there, including the tragic Sparky and his tailor made lifejacket. I believe even the standard cork lifejackets were not very well designed with a tendency to tip the wearer forward. Out of curiosity I followed the link given to the Tower Hill Merchant Navy...
