The theory being that 1) the old chain is polished by the guides over time so runs with less friction than a new one 2) the original Mercedes duplex chains are basically indestructible and don’t stretch even after 500k miles. 20 mins or so in… I’m guessing this doesn’t apply to the M271!

There are a few patches of pitted metal on the rear window surround which I need to paint before having the rear window refitted. They have been ground back with an angle grinder as much as possible. Any thoughts on what to paint them with? I have a tin of POR 15 but would a few coats of epoxy...

My heater/ac intermittently makes an annoying groany/whistly sort of noise which goes when switched to "0"/off. I've popped the fan out but can't see anything wrong with it, it spins very smoothly. Whether the ac is on or off makes no difference. Any thoughts? The filter is new.

Ideally I would like to use a fuse piggy back. I read in another thread that none of the fuses behind the dash cover are a switched live - is this correct? I would rather not splice/cut into any original wiring. Otherwise I guess the only other option will be to fit a USB socket to the ciggy...
