Unusual and potentially fatal ABS/ESP Issue

Thanks again guys. I found a video on youtube of a guy changing his YAW sensor on an identical vehicle (even the colour) When he is talking he had pretty much the same problem and scary experience as me. He did it 4 months ago and I have communicated with him andhis problem has not returned...

Unusual and potentially fatal ABS/ESP Issue

Wow guys, that a lot of information to get my head around! Many thanks to you all for your input. I fully realise the risks in driving the car and have had suspension and brakes checked....in fact it passed its MoT mid May and the first event happened 2 days later. My MoT tester who is a mate...

Unusual and potentially fatal ABS/ESP Issue

Hi Again Having received the responses to my original post I began to doubt myself and whether I was paying full attention when driving, to have potentially hit a pot hole and not seen it. Anyway, car has had little use other than running about and there have been no issues. However, today...

Unusual and potentially fatal ABS/ESP Issue

Thanks for the response. I wasn't braking at the time and had my eyes on the road. I certainly didn't see anything in the road but I suppose it is possible. It remains fine at the moment so hopefully you are right about the cause. Thanks again.

Unusual and potentially fatal ABS/ESP Issue

Hi All Its been a long time since I've been on the site as I garaged my 230CLK convertible as I was too embarrassed to drive it because of the severe rust around the wheel-arches, headlamps and boot lock. Covid has given me the time to do the repairs and I have had a great year of trouble free...

    Indy convertible specialist

Hi All I have had the same W208 Convertible fo 6-7 years and have always used Indys for servicing and have never had a problem with any of them on the pure mechanics of the car. I do however now have a convertible roof problem and have had it for about 18 months on and off but it is at its...

    clk 208 convertible rear seats

Don't know if you have had any success with this. I assume you know that the rear headrest unit all forms part of the roll bar system. Obviously they go up and down when you open the roof and I had the misfortune to have mine seize rendering the roof inoperable. MB wnat just over 3 grand for...

    W208 convertible hydraulics

On another thread Unit504 sent me a link for a 'how to' access the convertible roof hydraulic pump which was very useful. As a general question to roof experts, is there any way or need to bleed the hydraulic unit which operates the roof? For instance, I am assuming that if I replace any...

    W208 covertible roof storage compartment

Thanks for the 'how to' Unit504.... very useful. Is there any way or need to bleed the hydraulic unit which operates the roof? For instance, I am assuming that if I replace any hydraulic ram I am going to get a loss of oil and some risk that air may get into the system. Similarly, if as you...

CLK 230 Comp Conv Boot lock

Have faith I had the same problem and freed mine but it took a couple of hours over the course of a couple of days. Keep squirting in the WD40 and hold the key which is fiddly (as you know) with a piece of cloth and just keep turning backward and forwards. In case you weren't aware, it...

    W208 Convertible roof issues

Latest update Thanks for the response Chris. I have spent a few hours this morning 'messing' with the roof etc... it's quite good fun once you know you can always get the roof back up if it rains. I checked the Ram Limit switch with the bow vertical and it was exactly where it should be. I...

    W208 Convertible roof issues

Thanks for the info chris. Can you clarify something from your response. If the bow ram limit switch is not sending a signal then I would not have expected to hear the ‘whirring’ type noise indicating that it is trying to open which always precedes the audible click sound as the catch...

Hi All Been rooting around this site for a few days looking at one or two W208 problems I've had, past and present, and its good to see that knowlegeable enthusiasts post in 'plain English' on this site. Been on some other sites and it's like pulling teeth! I have been particularly impressed...
