Can someone decode a VIN for me please?

After 20 years of Mercedes, I went to BMW last time. I am now looking to return to the fold. I have found a nice 2016 E class estate. Can someone supply the data sheet? WDD2122012B334320 Thanks in advance.

    W203 thumping rear (self-levelling) suspension

I have a serious thump from the rear nearside suspension. I have changed and checked loads of parts and it is still the same. The car is a 2002 c220CDI estate with self-levelling suspension. The bit I am unsure about how to test is the rear hydraulic strut (the thing that looks like shock...

    Removing coolant pipe from alternator

Does anyone know how the coolant pipe is connected to the alternator in my car? It is a 2002 c220cdi estate. I am trying to remove the alternator, but can't work out how the coolant pipe is connected. It is not mentioned in my Haynes manual.

    Your credit score - FreeScore.com

Why do I keep seeing adverts on this site for freescore.com? It only appears to work if you have an address in USA. This is a UK forum. WTF!

    EPC - Visit workshop

"El. Power Control EPC Visit Workshop" message Car is a 2002 W203 c220cdi estate, 213K miles. I had this fault yesterday, accompanied by a complete shutdown in the fast lane of the A34 yesterday. It was rather frightening. I managed to move left and coast to a layby (over half a mile...

    Cool car!

My 2002 W203 C220 cdi estate has been running too cool for a while now. It used to sit at 80deg, over the last year it has been gradually cooling, it now sits at 50 degrees even after a 60 mile run. I always suspected the thermostat, but didn't get round to replacing it. On Saturday I went...

    W203 heated washer jets

I have a 2002 W203 220cdi classic estate. I think that it has heated front washer jets, but if so, I suspect they don't work. Does anyone know what activates them? Is it outside temperature, or a heater setting, or something completely different. If it is linked to the outside...

Posting same question on many sites

I have to admit that I am a member of more than one Mercedes Benz Owner forum. However, if I have a question to ask or a point to make, I chose the one that I think would be most appropriate, or likely to get the best answers. I have a pet hate when I find exactly the same post on the two...

Anybody tried POR15 on alloy wheels?

My alloy wheels are a disgusting mess. I have corrosion bubbles all over, particularly around the rims where balance weights have been added and removed over the years. They are also a dreadful mess inside the bolt recesses. Most of the silver has flaked off and lumps of corrosion have...

Rusty wheel arches and door W203 estate 2002

I spent last weekend on my rear wheel arches. There was no obvious sign of rust looking from a normal standing up position. The rust was only visible from below or with a mirror. It seemed a good time to tackle it before it crept round the corner, as I would not have to worry about...

    Floor mats

Reading another thread about how often a car has only one occupant got me thinking about one of the results of this. My C Class is now seven years old, I have covered 184,000 miles during that time, more than 90% travelling to and from work on my own. It arrived new with a set of mats, the...

220 cdi engine coolant drain plug

Having just finished changing the head gasket on my wife's Peugeot 306, I now know the value of regular coolant changes. I believe that my 2002 c220 cdi still has the original coolant in the system, and after 172,000 miles, it is well past time that I changed it. (I think the service book...

I went into limp mode today

I did an oil change yesterday, and while the bonnet was up I put a new air filter in. This morning on my normal commute to work, the car was in limp mode. It will not go over 3000rpm, and is very sluggish between 2000 and 3000 rpm. As I will be in work for all of the daylight hours today...

Haynes Manual for W203 - available March 2009

I was looking at the Haynes website at the weekend and was pleased to see that they are bringing out a Workshop Manual for the W203 in March 2009. I know they are not wonderful, but it has to be a lot better than nothing. I will certainly be buying one.

    Changing clutch fluid

I have a c220 cdi W203 (2002). It is time for me to once again change the brake fluid (last done 2 years and 60000 miles ago). I have recently realised that the clutch is hydraulic (I never guessed, thinking that as there is only one reservoir that the clutch must be cable operated). I...

    W203 rust problem

I have found some rust under both of the rear wheel arches on my W203 estate (2002). I have seen from this forum over the last few years that it seems to be a bit of a lottery whether or not MB will do the repair under the 30 year warranty. The car has not been to an MB dealer since the...

    Autospeed tyres versus Kwikfit

You may have seen on, another thread, that I had a close escape with a very damaged tyre. I found this out late on Saturday afternoon, and needed new tyres for Monday. This limited my options. My normal sources were not open on a Sunday. I looked on the Kwikfit website, and was shocked...

Squealing brakes can save your life

I had a bit of brake squeal, so I thought I would clean up the pads and put a bit of grease on the calipers. Look what I found when I got the front wheel off! I dread to think what could have happened if it blew at speed. Any thought about what caused this? The suspension seems OK...

    Battery Performance

As my car is approaching its fifth birthday, I am starting to wonder about the condition of the battery. Since I have been made aware of the "hidden menu" that shows battery voltage, I have been keeping my eye on it. I use the car every day, 130 mile round trip commute each day Monday to...
