    W203 (pre-facelift) parking sensor advice

Sounds like a nightmare until you fitted the switch. I presume the OE doesn't have this problem?

Yes, perhaps a lot of work to go through for not much reward for the seller...

After all that, his prices went too high, so I'm looking elsewhere for bits! :(

    W203 (pre-facelift) parking sensor advice

Thanks a lot for your help and advice Richard, it is very much appreciated. I remember adding Cruise control to my Citroen XM by getting the lever from eBay and plugging it in... :) I've sent your parts list to the guy with the donor car - hopefully all will be well. Next step is an interior...

    W203 (pre-facelift) parking sensor advice

That sounds more likely, thanks. I'll pass this on to the guy with the donor car. Ok, but isn't that the opposite of what you're telling me above? That there's additional wiring for the parking sensors system that plugs in? Most cars I've worked on have (for example) wires in the main loom...

    W203 (pre-facelift) parking sensor advice

Ok, that does sound like a lot of work. Are you saying that the main wiring loom for the car would need replacing? In previous experience of car looms, the 'option' wiring is there in the main loom, with connectors to plug in the options. It doesn't make much sense for a main dealer to have...

    W203 (pre-facelift) parking sensor advice

Understood, but I'd much rather fit the proper stuff if I could. I have a technical background and also brother's friend is ex-Main Dealer mechanic and has all the kit including star, so between us we should be able to sort it.

    W203 (pre-facelift) parking sensor advice

Hello all. I've been quiet for a while, but I'm back with new questions about a new car - a W203 estate I recently purchased on eBay. I am hoping to sort out some small problems and perform some upgrades - first of which is add front and rear parking sensors. I've found a donor vehicle and...

Did anyone else spot this one?

No, but a couple of her old Mercs have been. :)

Did anyone else spot this one?

Haha! Given that it has been in a barn for 20 years, I'll pass on sniffing the seats, thanks. I've not collected yet, as I am in the midst of trying to relocate to somewhere with space for cars.. not easy on my budget. I will keep you all posted, promise :)

    W114 for you classic fans

He probably kept it a secret so you wouldn't complain about his lowrider plans :) I'd be interested myself, if I'd not bought a 115 last week. Hope it goes to a good home.

That'll be the one. From the second series of Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld, which I really enjoyed.

    Evil BMW

It smells so bad that the seller is using an air freshener with the roof down :)

I think Rainbow Sheik is a real possibility on this one. I saw a piece Clarkson did about some of his cars, and there was some rainbow trim going on on some of them...

    1983 W123 240D - preferred tyre choice.

Thanks for all the info. I think I should seriously consider buying shares in Michelin at this rate - currently I have 5 cars that should be wearing them..... :S

    1983 W123 240D - preferred tyre choice.

Thanks guys. I'll bear that in mind. Does anyone know the original brand fitted? Would it have been Continental? In the Citroen world it's easy - everything was factory fitted with Michelin up until last year, when Bridgestone started to creep in.

    1983 W123 240D - preferred tyre choice.

Hello all, me again. My recently acquired 240D needs new tyres all round. What's the preferred choice between originality, performance (not that I'll going to be going very fast in a diesel W123 :) ) and cost? Currently my tyres are so old, worn and mismatched that I haven't got a clue. I...
