Thanks Gazz Caff Seems that the valve seat angles on the old head were 45 degrees and possibly only 30 on the new one, so obviously no valve re seating was done and apparently no compression test either. The joys of livng in Spain. Hope i dont have to pay for all the wasted time.

My 300TD cold start light no longer goes off after a few seconds though it still starts OK. Also water temperature gauge has stopped working. Both after engine overheat due to radiator failure, now replaced. Could the 2 faults be related? Trefor
