Transmission Kick: Replaced F/R Flex Disc and AT Fluid Changed

My car: 1999 C230K Sport Hello everyone, I have a question about a slight transmission kick when I'm coming to a stop and when I'm accelerating from 1st to 2nd. A little history about my transmission: Fluid was not changed at all until 130,000 miles At 130,000 miles, partial flush was done...

    best oil and filter

I've been using something called Castrol Edge 0w40 Synthetic, it's a bit more expensive than Mobil 1 0w40 but it's very smooth! http://www.amazon.com/Castrol-06518-0W-40-Synthetic-Motor/dp/B00BRLCC66/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1422676852&sr=8-2&keywords=castrol+0w40

How often do springs need replacing? (w202)

Hello everyone, my '99 C230k has 175,000 miles on it now. I've changed out all shocks, LCA bushings, balljoints, steering rack, steering ball joints so far over the last 10,000 miles. Overall the suspension is pretty good. Next I would like to replace the Upper control arms (an easy job)...

Steering- Strange Moaning Sound at very low speed turning

Hmmm...the fluid reservoir is actually very full. It's brimming with liquid so I don't think it's a leak... My lower ball joints, steering rack, LCA bushings have all be replaced 2 years ago so things are in very good condition...

Steering- Strange Moaning Sound at very low speed turning

Hello everyone, haven't been back in a while and I hope everyone is well. the steering in my 1999 C230K has developed a moaning noise that comes from the engine bay when I turn the steering wheel at very low speeds (pulling into or out of a parking space mainly) It's annoying and pretty...

oh no...dreaded Error codes are coming

My '99 C230k has been running quite well up until now...but I've just been hit with 3 error codes, plus my engine and transmission mounts desperately need to be replaced...I wonder how much this is all going to cost. The 3 codes are: P1519 Camshaft timing function chain, right link...

Darn, code p0422 came back :(

I've read from one of Olly's past post that it could be condensation...or blackened water? I'll stick a q-tip underneath there tomorrow to see what it is...

Darn, code p0422 came back :(

Wouldn't that throw a misfire code instead of a catalytic convertor code? The engine runs and idles very smoothly 98% of the time. I'm pretty confused, ill be taking it back to the shop again for a diagnostic again free of charge because they couldn't figure it out the first time, but I want...

Darn, code p0422 came back :(

Hey Olly, thanks very much for the reply. I just pulled off the red "kompressor" plate and looked into the spark plug area and found a small puddle of oil at the last spark plug. You can see it here: The rest are ok, with just tiny amounts of oil... No oil leaks on either side of engine...

Darn, code p0422 came back :(

After being diagnosed as being caused by a loose vacuum hose in the engine bay by a more experienced mb tech and fixed...my check engine light came back on. Again, on my obd ii reader it's giving me the P0422 code caused mainly by faulty catalytic converters. It can also be caused by engine...

W202 Shocks replaced, Suspension still unstable

Figured out what the culprit was...bad lower control arm bushings, lower ball joints, worn tie rods and steering rack. Had all that replaced for $800. Now the car feels almost like brand new. Give that a try!

    Oh no...Error code P0422?

sure! It's that cloth covered hose sticking out of one of the hoses of the oil separator. And it was suppose to be connected to one of the nipples on something near the engine... The old hose was completely deteriorated and not attached to where it was suppose to be. After he...

    Oh no...Error code P0422?

Turns out the code was caused by a vacuum leak instead of faulty cats. There was a finger sized hose that came lose from the engine that was correctly diagnosed by an experienced Mercedes technician. Turns out the OBDII reader wasn't a good enough diagnoses. The BAS/ESP light was caused...

    Oh no...Error code P0422?

Just got a check engine light and BAS/ASR light come on this morning. I took it to a auto parts store to have the codes read and the only thing it threw back was a P0422. Definition: Catalyst efficiency low-bank 1 -probably causes: Cats defective, engine misfire, large vacuum leak or engine...

    W212 E-Class Facelift Press-Release

It seems like car maker's are starting resemble each other more and more, whereas back in the 80's-early 2000's, a BMW was very BMW-ish, and a Mercedes was very Mercedes-ish, etc... With its softer and rounder less chiseled look (especially in the front), this new E-class reminds me of the top...

FS: Very sleek and brand new Mercedes Benz Laptop Backpack

Hey guys, I have a Brand new Mercedes laptop backpack. It was bought only a couple months ago. It is completely new and unused. The reason I'm selling it is because I decided to purchase a desktop and this ended up being useless for me. This can fit a laptop up to 17 inches! Has numerous...

Replaced Drag link and tie rods...wow! like a brand new car now!

Over the last couple months, I've put in new shocks, new lower ball joints, steering shock, new LCA bushings as part of a suspension overhaul and it has been good so far. The car has been much more stable on smooth roads, but there was still some very prominent shaking in the steering wheel...

    Recommendations For Best H7 Bulbs

Narva Range Power +50 or Osram Night Breaker Plus or Philips X-treme Vision These all have a brighter burning filament (results in a decrease of overall bulb life though) and a very faint blue tint on the glass that will make them slightly whiter than the average H7 bulb. The tint is...

Cold start sudden high rpm (jumped up to 2200)

Hey guys, I started my c230k this morning and the rpms shot up to 2200 for about 1 second, and then back to 1200 to warm up and the back to normal idle. Initial start up was louder than usual but there was no shaking, idle hunting or misfire. It wasn't even that cold, only 15 degrees...
