It only needs to be able to display kph, not a requirement for driving in UK. You can get this done, on some Mercs, I know the w203 can be done. Which reminds me I need to get mine done.

Does engine light come on, I had a similar issue on my alfa, got worse and would cut out in idling after a while, possible fuel injector issue.

Good luck, it is out of your hands now, surely MB would not have people on their books that do a consistently bad job though. You should be ok. Hope it all works out. Let us know how it pans out
