Under warranty I had a badly aligned boot lid stripped down and realigned about 5 years ago. The repair is still good and I had no problems. As others have said likely to be electro speed plate failing. Likely to get stuck in 2nd gear.Do get codes read before doing anything. Cost with an independent should be no more than £400 inc vat. My guy charges £65 for reading codes which is FOC if you go ahead with repair.
