Thanks Boeken. If the faults are stored I will get the codes read.

    1993 R129 SL500 Fault Code Storage

I have done a Google search but can't find the answer so apologies if this has been covered before. On the way home from work last night, the ASR light came on and the car went into limp mode. I pulled over, switched off the engine, re-started and normal service was resumed. This morning...

SL500 1994 non start after harness replacement

If the engine is cranking but not starting, wouldn't that throw a fault that could be read by a blink reader? Easy to make or buy from ebay. Not sure if it could contribute to the non starting but did your mate get his throttle body rewired at the same time? If not maybe the wiring to this...

Sorry to read that you’re still having problems. It makes me realise how lucky I was that the Si Lec treatment worked for me ‘straight out of the box’. Like you, I’m a carb guy and this electrickery stuff is beyond me unless it is ‘plug and play’. However, on the TB I think I am right in...

    Continental vs Goodyear

Timely thread for me this, as I need to replace the two raggedy Contis on the rear of my SL. However, I have staggered 18 inch Monos and the tyres on the back are 275/35/18 with 245/40/18 on the front. Is there an accepted 'correct' size as I notice the OP is looking at 265/35/18?

When you come to replacing the TB with a new gasket, I found it to be a right pain to keep the gasket in place and manoeuvre the TB onto it. My 'top tip' to solve this was to zip tie the gasket to the TB using two of the 4 bolt holes (on the diagonal). Once in place, bolt up loosely using the...

'94 SL500 - Gearbox? Ecu? Here we go again...

On the subject of the MAF wiring, I don't know whether it was a problem on mine but I didn't want to take the chance so sent all the engine loom including the MAF wiring to SiLec. I know it's a pain but if I would recommend that you send yours off. I doubt it would be too expensive as you...

I suspect the rough running and stall is simply down to moisture in the dizzy caps if you haven't used the car over the winter.

'94 SL500 - Gearbox? Ecu? Here we go again...

The cable that you are looking for is thick and comes from the drivers side wing but it doesn't go to the MAF, it goes down to the TB body, below the MAF. Having done it, I would say that getting the TB out without removing the MAF is impossible as there are too many fiddly things to do that...

Take a careful slice along a couple of inches of the harness outer casing and peel back. You'll soon know if it needs doing. Mine was in an awful state.

Apart from the ASR light not coming on, it sounds like you are describing 'limp mode'. Did you ever get your TB wiring harness replaced?

1995 sl320 R129 New Owner- Front Suspension Knock...

This was certainly the case on my R129, droplink fractured through work hardening at the point it was bolted to the chassis. Got to be worth a look.

    R129 auto glass nightmare.

That's bad news, I feel your pain! Strange though, I had issues with my glass replacement last year but the fitter didn't need to remove the header rail trim so no electrical problems.

    '94 R129 - immobile passenger seat & central locking

Now that is a useful feature. My alarm goes off intermittently so I have to disconnect the battery and lock manually, to avoid upsetting the neighbours:doh:

    '94 R129 - immobile passenger seat & central locking

It's good that you are happy that your boot doesn't activate the central locking but for the 93MY the handbook suggests it should and on my car it does. Maybe this 'feature' was deleted for later cars. I have to say, I could live without it!!! What mine does do, which I guess is linked...

'94 R129 electric windows not dropping

Interestingly, the Owner's Manual (US Version pdf) doesn't mention the window drop feature for the 93 MY at least.

    '94 R129 - immobile passenger seat & central locking

Hi Richard, Thanks for posting the fuse list. I have purchased a Star clone disc from the States but not being particularly computer literate I was put off by the installation instructions which seemed to suggest it would only work with a really old version of Adobe and that I would have...

    '94 R129 - immobile passenger seat & central locking

So I checked and on my car, the CL is activated whichever lock I use with either the key or the fob. This means that if the car is locked and I unlock the boot, then the doors also unlock.
