    The best engines ever.....opinions

Bit of a fun thread to see what everyone's opinions are. Simple rules, just choose which engines you believe are the best, 1 must be diesel and 1 petrol. I'll go first: Petrol- The Toyota 2jz-gte, awesome potential. Diesel- The VAG 1.9, highly sought after, reliable

    Ml270 radiator top hose

I could be paranoid here but is it normal for the top hose to be hard when the car is around 90 degrees c? I understand that it is a pressurised system but I've never noticed this before. I am loosing coolant from somewhere (I think it's the bottom hose) but apart from that the car is...

    270cdi manifold finally

Finally nearly got it off! All bolts are off and now it's just a case of manoeuvring it out! I'm going to need to clean around the ports on the head tho as they are covered in oil. I'm going to blank the manifold before I put it back in. What is the best stuff to use to clean the head and egr...

    Time to sell

Unfortunately I need to sell my beloved ml270. It's costing me too much to run on fuel and insurance so I need something more economical. The only issue I'm toying over is should I replace the manifold or sell as it is? I've not got the time to modify the existing 1 so a direct replacement by...

    Very poor mercedes service

Went into the parts department at mercedes Stockport today and was vey disappointed with the service, or lack of. 15 minutes I was waiting, ringing the bell whilst a member of the parts team was sat in the office facing me less than 8 foot away. He could definitely see me and was not on a...

Hope someone here has knowledge of this. My house is non-standard construction (coralite) and on inspection of the loft it seems there are no joists. It's just a solid concrete floor. The insulation is just lay on top. I Don't know the depth of the concrete yet either. How would I go about...

    Ml270 inlet manifold mod

Does anyone know any good indies in Manchester who will be willing to do the mod to my existing manifold? Literally take it out, modify then re-install? My indie won't do it and they want £800 to fit a new one with new motor.

    Ml270 inlet manifold replacement

Have booked ml into local indie to get my leaking alternator looked at. Whilst in I've asked them to check my manifold as the car feels sluggish, kicks out black smoke on acceleration and has oil down the side of the block. Does anyone know how much I should be paying for a direct replacent...

    New CLA

My brother got this on a 24 hour test drive. New CLA 220. First impressions.... Nice car but I don't really like the screen on the dash board. Looks really good with AMG kit. What was more worrying was the fact it's brand new and the passenger side electric seat had stopped working!!

Hi all probably in wrong section but feel free to move admins..... Anyway, yesterday my brakes decided to smoke and smell of burning. The driver side wheel was really hot to touch. Wipers work the opposite way

What a nightmare!! I have replaced my front wiper motor for a brand new unit. Assembled everything right, dry run the motor (without blades fitted) to get to start position. Refitted blades and now the wipers try to go down instead of up! What could be the cause of this?
