W124 230E 1992 ABS LIGHT ON AND POOR COLD STARTING

FIXED Bought a new OVP relay and problem solved Lesson learned - don't trust/assume a used electrical part is good unless you have tested and removed it yourself; just unfortunate I was sold a faulty one, but these things happen from time to time On the plus side, I have been cleaning and...

W124 230E 1992 ABS LIGHT ON AND POOR COLD STARTING

I last night had a closer inspection of all visible cables and connections; everything looks fine yet it still has the ABS light permanently on and still is bad at cold starting. I did however notice a humming noise from the passenger footwell. I know there is a little fan behind the dashboard...

W124 230E 1992 ABS LIGHT ON AND POOR COLD STARTING

The multiplug which presses onto the base of the ovp relay all looked clean at a glance, but I will have to have a closer examination to see if anything isn't correct. I dislike electrical gremlins the most ! All help and suggestions given are gratefully received

W124 230E 1992 ABS LIGHT ON AND POOR COLD STARTING

Yes, single 10 amp fuse was fine on the protection relay plus even tried a substitute protection relay and sadly no luck; that was my first thought but sadly not the case :( Been checking earth and other cable connections tonight for cleanliness, double checked the air idle valve and hoses etc...

W124 230E 1992 ABS LIGHT ON AND POOR COLD STARTING

I wonder if I could have a few ideas on this recent niggle I have encountered - first problem in 5 years ! Went to move the car last week and it was not happy trying to start; jump leads were used and it started, but didn't want to rev until warmed up and would die if the throttle was touched...

    A124 610 14 10 application

Hi I have been offered a old Mercedes panel from someone who is having a sort out of things, but not sure on what vehicle is fits. I gather it is a offside side member for a W124, but when I try to look up, it says ' long wheel base '. This part is not for the 6 door limousine variants it is...

    1994 S500L W140 Immobiliser bypass ( sorry to ask a age old question )

I have heard of a 99 starts bypass before, but not sure exactly. I have also heard of finding the immobiliser unit under the steering column, and cutting and joining 2 pairs of coloured wires. I think with my luck I would probably cook the electrics !

    1994 S500L W140 Immobiliser bypass ( sorry to ask a age old question )

There is an alarm as I have heard it go off when the cars battery when low once, which made the hazard lamps flash. I only have the one button key fob, and no secondary fob or over-ride key so believe it's factory standard

    1994 S500L W140 Immobiliser bypass ( sorry to ask a age old question )

Out of interest, how many W140 owners or technicians have experienced alarm or immobiliser failure on these cars ? I may be brave and try using her a little next year, but fear something daft like alarm or immobiliser lockout will leave me with a big headache. I know removing factory alarm...

    W140 Immobiliser

I may well consider just using the key, and locking all the doors manually; might seem odd with me concerned about this, but have heard of these cars being too costly to repair once they hit electrical problems, and ending up broken up. I'm trying to remove all potential future headaches and...

    1994 S500L W140 Immobiliser bypass ( sorry to ask a age old question )

I have one working key and a ' dead ' key also; those being the one button flip key. The Scorpion alarm fob is the same as my 92 W124 230 CE

    W140 Immobiliser

Hello Appologies for contacting you out of the blue, but I have a W140 S500 which I am concerned as it gets older with the very complex electrics may one day lock me out if my one working remote key expires. Is there a way of deactivating the alarm/immobiliser, or a way of having it start the...

    1994 S500L W140 Immobiliser bypass ( sorry to ask a age old question )

Thank you to those who read my post; I will assume what I had hoped to do is not possible, or perhaps many would rather not post publicly how to do it. I have asked locally but no one wants to know about working on a old W140 so will leave the car in storage out of harms way !

    1994 S500L W140 Immobiliser bypass ( sorry to ask a age old question )

Hello and thank you to anyone who reads this and may be able to point me in the right direction. I have a late 1994 S500 ( UK car ) with the 1 button keyfob ( only one working ) which as it gets older, worries me more about future electrical headaches. I realise I should when I recommission the...

1992 W124 CE Electric window motor

I had connected the motor to a 12V supply directly, but the motor didn't respond; yes, I have heard the relays clicking somewhere under the rear seat of the car also, so I suppose from what kind advice I have been given, I will have to have the regulator out, and fit a replacement motor. I think...

1992 W124 CE Electric window motor

Hello, and thanks in advance for any advice given. I have a 1992 230 CE which has a non working drivers side rear window; I have removed the panel before, tried testing switch and motor by connecting a direct current. Motor appears to have come to the end of its service life. Obviously with...
