    and another one....

I thought I would crawl out from under my rock and post an update..... C220 went to a new home in October 2013 :( I went to a new home in October 2013 and now live near Vancouver :D They don't 'do' C Class estates in Canada and so I decided to get something a bit different....you may want to...

Upgrade of Becker Map Pilot (with new features)

Got an email from Becker about the 2.50 software update today. Took long enough for them to send that. Installed in about 15 minutes including Firmware update etc, although I do have a 40mbbps internet connection!

    Becker Map Pilot review ?

When they only fitted a C-Class, they were selling for low £200s. Now they fit more models, demand is driving the price up.

    Becker Map Pilot miles/km

As I have mentioned before, I get the miles/km problem as well. I think it happens when you change destination mid-journey. Ejecting the unit is the only cure. The volume 'getting stuck' problem seems to happen more since 2.0.49/51 came out.

    Wife locked keys in boot...

Sheepishly, I have got to say you are wrong on that one.... :wallbash: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/128899-locked-my-keys-boot-last-week.html Technician who came out to me said that lifting the door pin will not unlock a W/S204. Key only if locked with key.

    Asbestos

Asbestos cement sheets weren't banned until Nov 1999, so it is quite possible, but more likely to be something like Marley Eternit fibre cement sheets. If you are disposing of asbestos cement sheets as domestic waste, most household waste sites will take it (by prior appointment), but this...

    Becker Map Pilot 2.0.49 Upgrade

Not on mine she doesn't (at least not on 'normal' directions). I have only done 40 miles to work this morning from Carlisle to Keswick via the M6 however, so not many opportunities for her to tell me where to go! She was speaking Portuguese when I first updated the software though :doh...

    Becker Map Pilot 2.0.49 Upgrade

The lack of 7-digit postcode search on the new version is quite frankly ridiculous. At least the word 'therefore' has disappeared from the instructions and she can pronounce standard English now...

    Becker Map Pilot 2.0.49 Upgrade

Managed to get the 2.0.51 installed including most of the maps on a 4GB unit this evening. Powered up in the car and looks a lot better than the old version, but sadly didn't manage a test run as it took a whole bottle of wine to get the updates done....

New model C Class Sport Plus saloon

Don't like how they've de-specced the Sport. They've got rid of Alabandine Grey as well. I like that colour! (so does everyone who has seen it when it is clean!) Mine has just passed it's first birthday and 30,000 miles yesterday as well!

C220 cdi or c250 cdi - any advice which to choose?

I have never managed over 49mpg in my C220 estate, although long motorway journey do improve things. Most of my journeys are <40 miles on 50% M6 and 50% Cumbrian A & B roads. 38mpg is my average over the last 15000 miles since 6th Feb (Ouch!). New tyres (at 25k miles) on the back have...

Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

Either that or: a) lots of other people are kinky b) lots of other people called KIRK (and others)think '12' makes a good 'IR' c) both because the whole K12K series on DVLA website is long gone... When Her Indoors bought it for me, there were only one or two 'missing', K12KYS probably...

One of our local butchers had 113 ONK which he originally re-arranged to suit his initials 113O NK and eventually did the obvious with a dodgy shaped 3.... 1 13ONK

Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

Except incorrectly spaced plates ARE normally readable by ANPR. I got away with K12KY (letter) (yes, I'm not as rich as the Hale Barns butcher...) on the front of my previous car for four years, even when stopped for doing 96 on the M6 near Penrith, when the fuzz went round the whole car...
