SRS, Fault codes required (Mobile Indie required)

Do you include spending 2 hours driving the 85 mile round trip to get to and from the customer for that £20? If so I've got loads of work I can subcontract you.

2010 National GTG questions and answers thread

I'm not fussy, so long as it has a Mercedes badge :thumb: I suppose as with anything you take apart, there is always a risk of something going wrong. I'm throwing ideas around really. I have no idea what sort of services attendees would like, if any. I'm just trying to get an idea if there is...

2010 National GTG questions and answers thread

Old oil extracted using vacuum pump so no need to remove sump drain bolt which is the one which can be tight, using a torque wrench I've never seen a retaining bolt shear on a gearbox sump pan in 12 years. Waste oil goes into the empty containers that the new oil comes in and comes back for...

2010 National GTG questions and answers thread

I was wondering what people might like done as well, obviously big jobs are going to be impractical and not what the event is really about but I figured people may be interested in things which are generally additional service items at the stealership like gearbox oil/filter changes, spark plugs...

Thats good to know. I figured it should work like this although my provider led me to believe otherwise. I've not ventured outside the warmth of 3G to try it :) Thanks for the info.

Mine is vodafone, and their maps (Jan 09 update) show no coverage. They aren't always accurate though. If someone at the site has vodafone and gets a 3G signal on their mobile thats good enough for me.

Is there a hard surface at the site? I'm a Merc specialist and might be interested in having a traders pitch, but can imagine trying to jack up and support a car safely on a (possibly) soggy field might be a bit problematic... 3G coverage in this area appears to be non existent, so credit...

clk w208 roof will not retract

Definitely sounds like a limit switch problem to me. What is the last part of the sequence which works properly when you try to open the roof? The boot lid cover opening?

    E220 cdi engine problem

Sorry, misread your first post. You changed the wastegate valve, you mean the vacuum one near the coolant bottle? As ignition resets the fault its not very likely to be the cat, unless its only just started breaking up. Once they have been rattling around for a while you lose boost totally...

    E220 cdi engine problem

How is the catalyst? A common fault for these cars is for the pre cat (right up by the turbo) starts to break up, bits of it then partially block the main cat. Usually the only fault stored in this case is for underboost pressure.

    HELP Garage has gone AWOL

If you don't get a goodwill fix from MB then drop me a line. I've got a spare 271 engine kicking around in the garage with a good cylinder head I could pull off for you....

    C230K Transmission and warning messages

What make is your radiator? Valeo ones have been going bad recently and the internal wall which seperates the coolant and the gearbox oil is failing, causing them to mix. Coolant in your ATF gives symptoms similar to the ones you describe. You need to connect diagnostic equipment and disable...

    HELP Garage has gone AWOL

271 engine right? Its a common problem on the early ones, the valve guides weren't put into the head staright during manufacture and they wear, eventually you lose compression, normally around the 30k mile mark. A new cylinder head is the only way to repair this.

V6/V8 spark plug change guide (112/113 engines)

Its well over £200 to get a plug change at the Stealership, so I wrote this little guide on how to change em yourself, hopefully someone will find it useful! V6/V8 plug change guide
