how many times do you clean your car

I clean my van 2/3 times a week, that may sound excessive, but as I average 2,000 miles per week so it's only washed every 700-1000 miles, in the winter (lack of frost permitting) I can go over it daily with the jet wash to get 200 miles of M way c**p off it! I clean the C class most weekends...

How not to wrap a car!!

Ok, so I am an old f**t, but I don't get it. The manufacturers of cars spend millions on the research & development of paint & generally do a great job & then someone buys a car & covers it in glorified cling film! Surely if you really dislike the colour then a) buy one in the colour you like...

    Retro fit xenon headlights.

Gotta agree with that one:o The wifes C class with it's xenons is very nice & although we have not owned it during a winter they seem to be a good light. But my Sprinter which I do 65,000 miles a year in (including some desolate places at night) has bog standard lights & I don't have any issues...

    W203 boot

The wife decided to rearrange the boot on our silver, 2003, c class saloon yesterday:mad: Not too bad, but if I can get one off a car being scrapped it may prove cheaper than the body shop. So if anyone knows of one going I'd appreciate it.

    Fuel filler cap lock

A very minor problem, but if not too difficult I would like to fix it. The pin that locks the filler cap cover is being energised, but does not come out far enough to be effective. Is it a big job to remove the boot trims to get at the problem solenoid? Or any other ideas? Thanks

    Speeding

If you have an accident which is definitely not your fault, DO NOT go to your insurance company. Go to an accident claims company who will do all the work for you & claim the cost off the at fault driver, they will also contact your insurers (to keep within their rules) but insist that you not...

    Hope it's not a problem!

:wallbash:I was just telling the tale to my son in law & he said the same thing. The problem is it's basically the wifes car (I just write the cheques) so I rarely drive it, well, that's my excuse anyway, TBH I didn't even realise it had the tip shift:dk: In my defence the last auto I drove was...

    Hope it's not a problem!

Driving my 2003 c108k auto today & something strange happened:eek: It was up to temperature (just) doing around 15 mph & took a right hand bend & it suddenly jumped down into 1st gear, the dashboard confirmed it displaying "S1", which is strange in itself as it only ever shows S + D, N or R...

Very Expensive Low mile 123 Estate

Indeed, but if you want to build up some credibility on eBay & do not want hassle, then it's not a wise thing to do. But.........there are plenty of people on eBay as in "real" life who care little about the rules or the law, but if you do see something you really like on eBay (MB or...

Very Expensive Low mile 123 Estate

Off the subject, but why do folk say no reserve and start at 10k+, surely no reserve is .99p start? It's because eBay charge the seller to have a reserve price, but do not charge for a no reserve price auction. So what the seller is saying is that there is no reserve above the starting price...

    Alarm not working?

Sorry bit late replying, been away all week. By the battery do you mean the main one or is there a separate battery for the alarm system? The main battery is OK, inasmuch as I have no problems at all, starts on the button.

    W203 C180 Non-Komp. not starting!!!

Possibly. Probably, but not definitely. Will the used one be any better than yours once reconed? Depends on how much work is involved versus the cost of replacing parts that may go on for another 50,000 miles plus.

    W203 C180 Non-Komp. not starting!!!

How much water had you lost? Why (if you know) were you losing coolant? If it was a minor leak & it had not lost a great deal, then I would assume it is related to something else, others more knowledgeable on Mercs than me will advise on that. If it was a total loss, then the head gasket could...

    Phone?

I had those fitted to my company cars in the late 80's, they were fitted to a car phone the "workings" were permanent fixture in the boot, linked to a cradle with attached phone. Those phones required an external aerial, unlike modern mobiles. Unless you could find an 80's set up (about the...

    Alarm not working?

I was out in the C180 (2003) today & took the dog with me, two problems arose, the main one was that I got a b********g for allowing the dog in the car from the wife:rolleyes: The other one is that I locked the doors whilst popping to the post box & when I returned 2 minutes later the...
