The A/C was off, in fact everything was off, but this fan/pump whining noise started when the key was in either position 1 or 2.......never heard it before and i have owned the car for more than 2 years and just as mysteriously it has now stopped.....

Well, started the car this evening and the fan noise was no longer running ..............or could it have been a pump ie condensate pump from the A/C ?

Hi All, Got in my W211 E320 this morning turned the key to position 1 and a fan type noise started behind the L/H side of the dashboard. Never heard it before and it stops when i turn the key off. Still running when i arrived at work 30 minutes later Any ideas ? Dave
