Get my first ever Mercedes today - quite excited!

Just checked my notes - I was getting 48mpg on my commute which is about 30 miles of mostly A roads and 5 miles of motorway with a few miles around town. On a longer run I achieved 65mpg - didn't go over 75mph and cruising at around 70mph - did about 40 miles. Not sure why I didn't mention...

    So far, so good . . . I've toned down the mood-lighting though . . .

Perhaps it's just as well I won't be reviewing the dealerships then . . . I suppose because there are different people at different dealerships then the level of service you get will be, well . . . different. Can't the same be said for any manufacturer or are some much better than others...

Get my first ever Mercedes today - quite excited!

:D Pity it will only be for a week though. It's been 11 months since I last posted on here about getting into motoring journalism and although I've been a long-term Mercedes fan (and stalker on here) I've never actually driven one! However, after having a weekly review published in the...

Anyone on here a Motoring Journalist?

Ah, yes. Blogging. It's the future . . . Not with my face though.

Anyone on here a Motoring Journalist?

Yes I do. I was told libel, but liability makes more sense now you mention it!

Anyone on here a Motoring Journalist?

If so, I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. Do you have Indemnity and Libel insurance? Are you taxed on the cars you review? i.e. Are they classed as a "perk" like a company car?

    I think it's time for my first MB . . .

That's useful to know. Been a passenger in a couple of c classes and the smoothness of the auto boxes and the ride in general felt excellent. Sensible to drive a couple tho. Strange thing is that BMW and Audi do absolutely nothing for me and I'm not sure why. Perceived ideas of their drivers...

    I think it's time for my first MB . . .

but I just need to ask a few questions here first. Now I know I'm obviously preaching to the converted on here when it comes to a "should I or shouldn't I buy a Mercedes?" but I've had these questions spinning around in my head for a couple of years now so it's about time I asked the people...

Your top three driving pet hates...

The person in front of me approaching a roundabout who slow down ever so gradually and then stop at the giveway line before looking right - even though you could see all the while that no one was on the roundabout, let alone approaching it from another direction. Sheesh!

    Too fast, too close........

Part of me thinks "send this to the police anyway, they may be interested in tracking the biker down", then another part of me thinks "What sort of world would we be living in if everyone on the road was policing everyone else?"

    50:50?

I've done exactly the same in the past and although I had a "squeaky bum" moment, no harm was done. I haven't done it since. Complacency on a familiar road can be a killer so I always bear that in mind now. I spoke to a police officer mate of mine at the time and he said it would have been my...

    Hit & Run

Agree with PXW. There could be a thousand and one reasons he did not contact you - shouldn't stop you from continuing to do the right thing. I suspect that if you eventually meet the SLK driver he/she will be very grateful indeed.

    Queuing

Ah! Perhaps that's the answer - tw@t anyone who breaks your rules! At least the roads would be quieter with all the ragers behind bars . . .

And IMHO he did nothing wrong. Also, as regards the highway code he did nothing wrong. He also did nothing dangerous. I don't agree he was "inconsiderate" or "impatient" - that's purely YOUR perception of it. If you're the kind of person that gets angry when someone passes them then I can see...
