    W124... Highly Impressed

Found a real nice one. And I mean real nice one! Will update with images if i buy it. There are hardly any of them in existence so it should look very nice once its very nice and shiny. E500 is the other choice but i cannot justify such a car already owning an E39 M5 and E60 M5. The E500...

    W124... Highly Impressed

W124 sickness has firmly set in. Looking at buying another one. Something very high spec like a saloon E320 with A/C, Leather and electric seats. While I know the coupe's are really liked, I wonder what the general outlook is on a saloon these days. Old scrapper or still something that's...

There is definately a decline in numbers on the road. A few years back I would see some real nice saloons but those are non existent now. You get the odd few coupe's and TE's. Most of the ones I see are very well cared for driven by those who want to own them. You often see nice W124's in...

Which grade of fuel should be used in AMG's?

The DME operates a closed loop knock detection system. They will knock on 95 octane if coming straight from 97+ and the DME will automatically retard the ignition timing. This wil result in atleast around 20hp less HP and midrange torque. The engine will generally feel less responsive. If...

There are plenty of members here. Maybe I should look to meet up with a few who have done suspension before ahead.

Just to add. Filled up with 99 octane good stuff from Shell. Afte 200 miles I have just over half a tank. Did over 300 miles on the last tank with combined driving. Amazing economy. I would say that! My v10 M5 barely does 200 miles to 60 litres.

    W124... Highly Impressed

So just completed a straight 200 mile journey up the M1 from London. I do this journey quite often. This has to be one of the most relaxed journeys I've had. Not tired at all! I just need a proper stereo in here. The std merc one is cr8p!! As are the speakers. Becker with some proper speakers...

    W124... Highly Impressed

I'm not sure I can stop myself doing something to it. Don't want to give it the 'gangsta look' but want to do something. Found some 17 inch genuine AMG's already. Shall I?

Thanks Mike. Definately agree with the social aspect of the multi seat cab. We were out in central london in my sisters one. Very enjoyable. Incredibly comfortable in the rear too. Lots of people look at these. I didnt expect that even though i always look when i rarely see them. What do...

    BMW 118d

The 123d is the one to have. Fantastic engine that revs like a petrol engine and the power delivery is linear. Will rev cleanly to 5000rpm. The 118d and 120d are also great but really need to be woken up with a decent engine calibration upgrade. The interiors are DRAB though unless you go...

When I drove the carbriolet is has something the Coupe doesn't. I couldn't put my finger on it but the best way to explain it without sounding strange is 'romantic'. Yet to drive a 320CE cabriolet. I think that would just be superb. Impressively quiet at speed too those cabs!

    W124... Highly Impressed

When you spend alot of time with the modern BMW's, Audi's and Mercedes you soon get very bored (minus the amazing engines in some of them). That's when you start appreciating the majic of the older properly engineering machines. These days they take the soul out of cars with ultra high...

Great advice. I hate too low personally. Always have. As you rightly say, suspension travel is very very important. I used to own an E30 M3 many years ago and fitted H&R coilover to it. The rear wheels left the ground on the M25! B12 Kits from Bilstein are probably the best option but I...

    W124... Highly Impressed

You seem to have the car I SHOULD have bought. I am currently drooling over this one for sale: Resisting and instead make my one super nice as I don't need the power. For that the V8 or V10 M5's are fine.

Thanks! Definately enjoying it alot. The smell inside is also great and the quality of that leather puts so many modern cars to absolute shame. Especially the latest E Class which I drove for a weekend. Call that leather!

They are indeed very nice. The ride is a little too smooth majic carpet ride. Tend to find that really soft setups like this can also be a little crashy too over our UK roads. Another local W124 enthusiast has a 1995 300D TE with the 17 inch AMG's so may just borrow those first to see if I...

    W124... Highly Impressed

Hi Guys, Joined the forum a few weeks back. Years ago when the W124 was fairly new I always drooled over the sight of these timeless pillarless coupe's and loved the TE's and E500's. Had a few rides in some some saloons. Was always impressed. Then my sister and brother in law started...
