    Minor, Non-fault Insuance Claim.

Are you sure? Your third party insurance should cover all the costs of damage to the other vehicle. The excess only applies when you have damage. You shouldn't be paying anything towards the other person's costs.

Drove up the famous California Highway 1

Or even Hearst Castle :p. Seriously, I agree with that. You should also check out some of the smaller places en route - Morro Bay on the coastal section from San Luis Obispo has some great seafood restaurants and cheap places to stay.

    Insurance/ Incident Advice Needed.

Yes, using your sample of 1. The insurers on the other hand have statistics on thousands of cars, which if your assessment of the reason for the increase is correct will show that there is an increased risk of a second accident. £40 doesn't sound much, are you sure it's solely due to the...

    Automatic Renewal Scam

This. One of the reasons for insurance companies introducing auto-renewal (apart from relying on intertia selling) was that policies used to have a 15 day 'grace' period after the renewal date where you were covered for compulsory third party provided you renewed before the 15 days expired...

    Automatic Renewal Scam

To repeat what was said earlier, you must have agreed to it. It may have been a hard-to-see-check box on a web page or a mumbled question on the phone, but I very much doubt you won't have been told about it somewhere. It's up to you to tell them if you sell the car and don't want the policy...

Spare Key for an ML W163

MB don't do valet keys AFAIK. The metal blade is solely to get you in the car if the batteries fail in the remote. You still need the key transponder to turn on the ignition, that uses power from the car battery.

Anyone in the car insurance claims business please?

Your gf's insurers have made an error in sending correspondence to the wrong address. But you no longer have your car so they are unable to assess the damage. Even if the car was a write-off, it becomes the insurer's property. Your experience is one of the hazards of the no-claims discount...

    new genuine dealer plates

They should be supplying them free of charge too! The OP should point out to them how much the advertising is worth, the value must be far more than a set of plates, particularly if you have a motor worth looking at. :thumb:

    Stolen car claim

If the car has been stolen you are technically no longer its keeper! The V5 acknowledges that fact. If the car is running around somewhere, triggering speed cameras, you will be the one getting the summonses. If it was me I would want to remove that liability ASAP and let the insurance...

    Buying a car privately

If it's under £10K a normal bank transfer should take less than 2 hours and cost nothing. For security and speed I agree CHAPS is the way to go.

    Service Plan - Any Dealership?

The link only lists prices "New vehicle - up to 12 months old and before first service". I am getting one on my 10-plate A180 at the same price as new (£23 a month). Because it's just over 2 years old I can have a maximum of 4 services (ie years 3 to 7).

    Service Plan - Any Dealership?

Thanks. Looks like £23 a month is good value at those prices, as it includes the additionals.

    Service Plan - Any Dealership?

I'm thinking of taking out an MB Service Plan and got the service agreement drawn up. The only part I'm not sure about is that the agreement states servicing at any 'Official Dealership' but the schedule states a 'Nominated Dealership' - the place I bought it from. I may not want to go back...

How to try and limit telephone sales calls

Most of ours come up as INTERNATIONAL. We can't ignore them as some international calls are legit, but I usually pause for 3 or 4 seconds just to see if it's a recording. If it is I let it play out.

Can anyone explain to me how parktronic and bluetooth 2.5 works

It can be easier to set up from the phone - press the TEL button on the Comand unit and navigate to the add device section, then on your phone turn on Bluetooth look in the Bluetooth settings for something like MB-Bluetooth. Select pair and enter a number when asked. You should then get a...
