    The W210 E class 'W' mode, that johnEboy has said is equivalent to the newer 'C' mode on the W211. If this was the case the W210 does far less mpg when in W mode. Try the other setting, you say 'S' on the w211 for a week and see if any difference on fuel. :dk: Steve

    I would be careful with metering continuity or probing around the airbag connections, unless its disconnected as it may by some outside chance trigger. The seatbase though, as you pointed out, would cause the centre 'airbag off' lamp to illuminate. Since you dont have this and the fault remains...

    Note to original poster - by chance your gearbox is not inadvertantly selected to W mode?, as in this position it uses more fuel than S. Stupid suggestion but worth being shot down to mention.

    I would also imagine that if you had a problem with the steering wheel 'squib' coil (clockspring) then it would flag a full Air Bag fault as your driver bag would be inop. An SRS flag alone could be due to pass. seat occupancy sensor, auto child seat detector or seatbelt system or connecting...
