Amazing thanks for the reply chaps.. They are not torx, I stripped it out with a torx, luckily managed to get vise grips tight enough to get it off. I have many arms to change so thought I would get the proper bits. Deffo multi spline ones.

Hi Everyone I managed to get the bolts out of my rear arms using vise grips, I stripped the internal thread on the old bolt by using an E Bit. The bolt heads have multiple splines. Does anyone know what the type of socket is actually called? I have found Multispline sockets that look close...

It's good stuff, it is the exact same as you would find in any more fancily packaged container and super value, although I am bias as I work for chevron :thumb: I bought it from Costco too

Not sure if this will help diagnose any further but it happened as I was overtaking, and the power just failed and it started spluttering. The caps at the end of the coil packs that connect them to the wiring loom are cracked but the wiring looks intact

It was one owner from new until I got it, with full merc service history. It was using quite a bit of oil before, but I think it was down to blocked crank case breather system, the cost of the rebuild was why I am loathed to get rid of it, plus I still love the car!

Cheers for that! You might be on to something, come to think of it, one of the rubber bits that comes off the coil pack did feel quite loose but I didn't even think to check that! Thing is its not that cylinder that is misfiring though? Im Confused.com

May have suspected the head gasket if the engine hadn't been rebuilt last year, no other dodgy head gasket symptoms either as compression tests are all good and no signs of water loss or over heating
