Silver Bullet Here's my little Silver Bullet after having this treated: Looking much prettier now: 10 years old now - and still goes like the wind!

    Auto glass windscreen replacement

A couple of years ago, thanks to Autobahn road works, I had to get a cracked windscreen replaced on my SLK32 when I got home. Booking Autoglass was no problem and I left the car at their depot. Now, my car has an internal cellphone antenna attached to the glass and Autoglass had said that they...

    toddler accident clean up

Many years ago, 4 of us rented a house - complete with cat. The damn thing was rather large and used to have its 'moments' with other local moggies. One day it had yet another scrap and we decided to take it to the vet to be patched up. Whereupon it buggered off for the day. But we knew it...

    Panoramic or not???

I believe the colour is 'Tellurite Silver'? Silver isn't boring - it's classic M-B. Black is boring - as are all the other dark, gloomy colours which seem to appeal so much to ze Tchermans.... If I was in the market for a used SL, a panoramic roof and no walnut wood interior would be...

To Service, or not to service?

I would agree that, provided the last oil change used Mobil 1, just wait until the Assyst window tells you that a service is due. That's all I do with my SLK32 AMG! Even with low mileage, I don't think that Assyst will let you go for more than 24 months between services.

Top Gear on Sunday looks interesting...

Would the political-corrrectos have been quite so quick to leap on the outrage bus if Jeremy had said he'd "Seen something similar when a nun tripped up and revealed her thong"? Anyway, it was pretty amusing.

How many attempts to pass your driving test?

Passed at the 3rd attempt... First attempt was at 17 and a couple of weeks. In the family's second car, a 9 year old Ford 100E Anglebox. Clouted the kerb during a left turn, plus I only looked in the mirror instead of over my shoulder when moving off. My fault - having had no lessons except...

Why do drivers flash you when you overtake them??

114 Signals at roundabouts: When turning left: Use the left turn indicator on approach and through the roundabout. When going forward: Use the left turn indicator when passing the exit before the one to be taken. When turning right: Use the right turn indicator on approach and maintain...

    A/C off light

Silly question, but you have checked that the fan isn't at 'off', haven't you? Air-con won't operate unless the fan is 'on'......

Fabulous service from my MB main dealer!

Well..... I took the car in today and they gave me an E320 CGI as a loan car, which was nice. Then came the phone call "It's overdue an air and fuel filter change and long overdue a spark plug change. And the ball joints seem a little worn...." The air filters weren't in stock, so they...

    New member SL32AMG

Not sure if the figure includes personal imports... £14500, even for a classic with relatively low miles for the year, does seem slightly steep. Does it have a designo interior or something? Not that a special interior should add much to a used car price. For example, there's one for sale...

    New member SL32AMG

Remember that only 27 2003 SLK32 AMGs were imported into the UK, so they're very rare. The one you describe sounds excellent - don't be surprised to pay over the odds (whatever that might be).... If SWMBO doesn't like 2-seat cars, get her a Trabant and drive the SLK32 AMG either solo or with...

    New member SL32AMG

I've had my 2003 SLK32 AMG for nearly 5 years now and have no intention of replacing it. Performance is simply shattering and it is an entirely practical every day car - except in the snow we had this winter! The other huge plus point, compared with other R170 models, is that the AMG comes...

    R/C helicopter

I recall the old 'Simprop' competiton which offered a prize to the first person who could successfully design and fly a R/C helicopter. It must have been in around 1968? Some truly terrifying things whiled themselves to destruction at the hands of those pioneers. At our local aerodrome...

    University Choice for Daughter

A friend's daughter read English at York University recently - she loved it! I visited York University in 1972 - it was so much nicer than the place I was at. London (Queen Mary College) in the Mile End Road with accommodation in a 1960's tower block in Woodford.....:(

    Internet Explorer Loading Really Slowly!!

Do You by any chance have an old version of Norton Anti-virus installed? I had a similar experience with my laptop - slow to load IE8 and eventually I started getting 'disk space low' warnings.... It turned out that thousands of old Norton files (.slu) hadn't been deleted when an update had...

    Why has car insurance skyrocketed???

I've been with Privilege for 6 years. Every time they sent their automatic renewal quote it was unreasonably high and I had to ring and argue.... This year it turned up and the quote was 37.8% higher than last year. It doesn't even include continental cover; I had to make a couple of 10 day...

Who said Kylie doesn't have taste??

Yes, it seems that the delightful Miss Minogue does indeed have good taste. Although I'm not sure about the pink bits..... ....of interior trim. Have to admit that the thought of her rear having polished the drivers seat - and her fingers having lovingly caressed the shift lever...

    The World Cup

When does this Kevball nonsense finish? Though if it keeps the mono-neurones glued to their TV sets and out of their fart-cannon Corsas and Subarus for however long the competition takes, I'm all for it!

Fabulous service from my MB main dealer!

Well, it's going in to MB of Kidlington, Oxford for a B-service in a couple of weeks time. The dealership gave me a quote of £299 over the phone yesterday, including loan car insurance for the day. 'Dave' will be my point of contact - watch this space for news of the actual bill! Any...
