W211 was a 57 plate,my F10 is a 12 plate. I'm basing my argument on similar size engines and gearbox though yes ofcourse F10 is much more newer with kit etc. W211 is supposed to be the best E class ever isn't it...well until this new W213

Iv recently jumped ship from W211 3.0V6 7G to BMW F10 msport 525d 3.0 straight 6 and there is no doubt BMW wins..gearbox is miles ahead in my opinion...engine has more power,much more refined and way more economical. Idrive with Proffessional navigation 10' screen has ALL the toys one needs so...

I totally agree with you about the ZF box,had been used to Merc boxes for over 10yrs now and driving that 8 speed was AMAZING. Only time I knew a gear had been changed was when the Rev counter moved yet car felt so smooth

Not a fan of the 212 interior to be honest but love the 213 interior so much...was just out of my budget just now but maybe in 3-4yrs time I'll be back to Merc and it will def be the 213 3.0L AMG

Yes dealer told me mine was one of the the last inline 6's 525d,the F11 now has a 2.0L engine. Mine just has a smaller turbo to the 530d but otherwise exact same engine

I test drove the car once and fell in love straight away,that 8 speed gearbox...wow cannot feel gear changes whatsoever. It has the pro media pack too with ALL the toys. Straight 6 engine felt more refined than my current V6. More updates when I get it next week

Iv just bought an F10 525d straight 6 and looking forward to getting it next week,test drive was amazing and in all honesty drive better than my W211 which I'm sadly parting with

It's early days to think that's the solution coz mine went for over 6 months after refurb before the problem returned

How much did 6 glow plugs cost you on eBay? I just bought 6 from MisterAuto for £62,they are OEM BERU ones. That was the cheapest price i could find. Will be changing them later on today

I have the same engine mate and so do a few others on here with the same intermittent issue which no one seems to have the definite solution to it hence we live frustrated with it. Great car and engine otherwise

Bought the kit off them for my OM642 last month and did the work myself. Was a bit gutted I could have saved more had I bought the exact parts off Eurocarparts as they were all MANN filters with Mercedes logo on them
