Volvo S40 Anti Skid Steer & Warrantywise

ive just posted this over at Volvo forums, thought its relevant here too; so it turns out theres been confusion of sorts. Volvo wanted to charge £127 per hour labour, and replace the part with a brand new unit at the cost of something like £500+ so thats where the £900 figure came into it...

Volvo S40 Anti Skid Steer & Warrantywise

some people swear by warranties, and some, like me, seem to have nothing but bother with them. ive got a bunch of phonecalls to make today to try and get things sorted somehow. the rebuild and indie route looks like where im going, however the car being off the road for potentially 2 weeks...

excellent. i will give the guys in Warrington a ring tomorrow and see if they can help. Is it dealer specific whether or not im likely to get a contribution? or is it just that they are more helpful when it comes to fighting for said contribution?

well i guess i fell for the marketing spiel! plus the endorsement from Quentin Wilson and his insistence on avoiding 'Weasel Words' sort of sealed the deal. as stated i should have just put my money in the bank every month. guess i was just keen on keeping my new car 'protected'. as you can...

Volvo S40 Anti Skid Steer & Warrantywise

yeah the link provided in this thread states around 7 days. however (excuse my naivety here) im unsure of how to locate and remove the unit myself. and i presume the car wouldnt function for a week without it being in place? so i could potentially be looking at a fairly long (2 week?) break...

Hi Ian, thanks for the advice! i wouldnt mind but i was quoted £100 for the computer hookup, then when i got there he said its actually £120 with the VAT. I was in such a huff with my conversations with WW that it didnt click until i got home. to be honest i thought it seemed expensive however...

it includes ABS (which theoretically should cover this fault i think!) as i say, they are unwilling to pay out because im paying monthly and im claiming within the first 12 months of having the policy. surely if you cant technically claim inside the first year (they seem to pay the remainder of...

Looking at going from an astra to a C-Class

blood and sand! yes im going to get a bike. just a bicycle infact. i think the BMW is officially out of the question. Contract hire is fine, but im the sort of person who likes to own rather than rent. And whilst it would be nice to hire a new car, id be scared to death of pranging it and id...

Looking at going from an astra to a C-Class

thanks for all the advice. im really torn between a diesel 3 class SE and a c-class manual. (either 3 or 5 door). i really need to try a manual c-class and a diesel 3 class to be honest and take into consideration the potential engine costs too.

i have no preference in regards to diesel or petrol. if the price is right and the spec and mileage is right i will go for it.

Looking at going from an astra to a C-Class

how strange. i shall keep that in mind then! i think at the moment its going to be between a diesel 3 series (providing i can find one with folding seats although im not holding my breath) a chick repellant volvo s40 ;-) id probably get a manual c-class but i imagine if that thing goes wrong...

Looking at going from an astra to a C-Class

my first car was an n reg ford fiesta which had no power steering. after driving that for nearly a year, believe me the lighter the steering the better lol. it scarred me for life that thing!! and its nearly 6 years ago that i was in that thing! plus it would do this mad thing where if you went...
