Rims finally fitted to my Coupe

Got round to fitting rims to my C Class Coupe. Never been a 'wheel boy' until this set were donated to me, needing a few cracks welded and repainted as the original lacquer was flaking off. They turned out quite well I though and certainally make a big difference to the look of the car...

    New polisher arrived BUT

If you press the pad 4-5 times on the work area before starting you should have very minimal polish splatter. Keep your work area small. 18" x 18" ish

Random - What wheel studs for these rims

Thanks hotrodder. Much appreciated. I've just been off the phone to an alloy wheels place near hand who can sort them out. Thanks all

Random - What wheel studs for these rims

Because not all alloys are the same. The ones I am removing are 16" with a lesser offset to the the 18" ones I will be putting on. So I will need shorter bolts. The seats in the bolt holes on the alloys are also different.

I know I need to get new bolts. That is what I'm asking. Which size/type of bolt suit the rims pictured. They are the AMG style 18" alloys.

Random - What wheel studs for these rims

I've got my rims back from being painted and will soon befitting them. My car is a 2002 C220 Coupe with standard 16" alloys. The current wheel studs won't fit correctly so I'm wondering is there a specific size etc I need to get. Sorry a bit random and silly but I prefer to clean cars than...

Nice collection. I'm getting a Bigfoot 15 sent over from the US in a few weeks time. Been strictly DA for ages after my last rotary packed in. Heard mixed reviews on the Rupes so was holding out but it's coming a decent price so will see how it goes.

Great work mate. What machines did you use? I can imagine the Bigfoot 15 or 21 having serious bother with alot of those contours and small areas or have you the wee Rupes 75 too.

Keeping a silver chauffeur car clean

A real good decontamination process - prewash, wash, tar & fallout remover, claybar and final rinse. If you don't plan to machine polish, then imo use a mild clay as they can marr the paintwork. You can use a nice glaze like Poorboys White Diamond & top it off with 2 thin layers of decent wax...

    New to Electric Polishing

I don't know what strength you have but I use 99.9% IPA & mix it anywhere between 5:1 & 2:1 with distilled water in a spray bottle. Just mist it on and let it dwell for 20 or 30 seconds and then wipe off. You can do it 2 or 3 times if you're fussy but assuming the rims have just been painted...

    New to Electric Polishing

Wiping down with IPA is used when you're correcting paint with the like of a DA or rotary etc and polishing compounds like Megs 105 & 205 etc. Polish residue & oils can be left on the panel & 'fill' swirls effectively giving the effect of having better correction. Ceramic sealants and...

    C220 Coupe Detail

Thanks for the comments! I will hopefully have the new rims painted shortly and a few more pics up in better lighting as it wasn't the greatest on that day. I was never a big fan of silver cars before and to this day I still get annoyed detailing them but they do come up well even with just...
