B Class W245 fuel economy and slight wobble

You can’t get better advice than the advice you’ve just had from forrera, what this guy doesn’t know about the A/B Class probably isn’t worth knowing…The same guy that did my drive shaft/CV a short while ago – thanks Des, I have a happy A Class once again, no more wobbles.

    w169 A Class - Wiring Part

Great stuff, thank you very much!...I’ve got something definite to go on now, I think having that part number is more than half the battle…

    w169 A Class - Wiring Part

Wow, thanks, is there no trouble you won’t go to! The missing piece of wiring runs inside the trim from the top of the tailgate to the courtesy light at the bottom. The top end plugs into a larger multi-connector (I think this one also does the FM Amplifier connections). I’m reasonably certain...

    w169 A Class - Wiring Part

Thanks for taking the time to look at his guys – much appreciated. If I google the part numbers all I get is the same image posted by GLK. I think I’m going to have to take the interior trim panels off the tailgate again to get a good look at the connecters and take a few pictures to remind...

    w169 A Class - Wiring Part

I need help finding a wiring part number or connectors. I’m missing a small part of the wiring loom from the tailgate of my A200T after the id**t that I employed to swop my tailgate over lost it. I really wish I could have found the time to do the swap the doors over myself, but it’s done now...

B Class W245 fuel economy and slight wobble

I used to be like that too but I don’t really care anymore, I used to drive around almost expecting the gearbox to fail at any moment after all the bad news I was reading. There's loads of these cars on the road and they're not all suffering from gearbox failure. Issues with the speed sensors...

B Class W245 fuel economy and slight wobble

I’ve just had the drive shaft and inner CV joint replaced on my A200T for symptoms that sound very much like those that you describe. I had an intermittent creaking/knocking/clunking sound that appeared to be coming from the front RHS of the car that got progressively worse over time, and then...

    What's This For?

Good luck with your door hunt – all mine done now, but still need a tiny bit of TLC. The tailgate was the worst offender - on mine the seam seal was falling off…and at the top of the door it had never even been applied from factory!...Must have been a Friday afternoon job

    What's This For?

Thanks Guys I’m not completely convinced that it’s the FM antenna, but I suppose it’s possible. Thing is I didn’t disconnect the cables and hang the replacement door, I got someone else to do that so I’m a bit stuck. It turns out that the old door had four different spade connectors on...

    What's This For?

I’ve swopped the tailgate on our 2006 A200 Turbo for a salvaged door taken from a 2011 A160 CDI. (No more rust!) The rear window heater on the replacement door doesn’t appear to have an AM/FM antenna like our old one did – but no problem as the Radio and GPS still appear to work (I assume...

    A180 (2ltr cdi) whistle

Not sure if this is the same noise but we used to get a high pitched whine from our engine that turned out to be the aircon compressor, even with a brand new one fitted I can sometimes hear the same sound but at a much lower level these days. It was very noticeable below 20/30 mph but got lost...

transmission fault re appeared after 150mile

The problem is that it’s so difficult to diagnose what the issue is even with diagnostics - the question is, is it mechanical or electrical? You really need STAR diagnostics rather than generic OBD too. The ECU/speed sensor seems to be by far the common issue with the MB CVT, the problem is...

transmission fault re appeared after 150mile

Only what's in my post here: https://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/engine/201789-cvt-rebuild.html Bearing/Shaft wear on the primary pulley arrangement was the mechanical failure I had – new parts and a re-build of the CVT (with two year warranty) cured the problem, though it cost about £2400 for this...

transmission fault re appeared after 150mile

Just another thought – when I had the Valve Body and ECU changed, the old unit went back to MB to be refurbed and then I assume resold…I thought this was a bit cheeky of MB since they had £1600 off me to fit a new unit and then they get to re-sell my old one again refurbed for £800! So if there...

transmission fault re appeared after 150mile

Oh, I see, doesn’t sound good does it!...Is it worth ringing around a few indies for a second opinion? I don’t know what the deal is with MB, maybe it’s a case of whatever they have one on the shelf at the time. When I had the speed sensor issue I could only get the Valve Body and ECU together...

transmission fault re appeared after 150mile

It used to be the case that you could only buy the ECU together with the valve body on the W169, but these days you can buy the ECU separately for much less than the combined cost of both. I’ve had mine changed twice now (the second time was due to mis-diagnosis by the indie I took it to…Grrrr)...

    Clear Coat Remove/Repair

The clear coat on the panoramic sunroof of our W169 is looking a bit tatty and sorry for itself. It looks to me that a probable combination of sun/heat and wind has caused the clear coat to flake and come away – it only seems to be on the trailing edge of each louvered panel. I’d like to get it...

    Automatic gears failing?

I had this happen on one occasion with my W169 under acceleration, pulled over switched off/on the ignition and it cured it – never had that particular problem ever again. I believe that the W169 is also fitted with a torque convertor so I assumed it was a problem with that and thought I’d just...

A Class 180 CDI, W169 Engine warning light.

This guy’s location is not local to you but it might be worth talking to him if you haven’t already – only works on A Class W168/W169. I can’t find his webpage anymore but he has a facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aclassForrera/ He seems to have a very good reputation and is very helpful...

A Class 180 CDI, W169 Engine warning light.

Yes I noticed that, I’ve looked at you post a couple of times. Sorry nobody seems to have got back to you, they’re generally a helpful crowd here. Maybe no one has an answer. Unfortunately I don’t have any ideas for you other than when you took the car to your MB indie did they connect it to...
