What makes the perfect Winter car

Whilst I probably wouldn't choose it for a winter car my wife's 107 was remarkably competent. Lightweight, small, little mass, skinny tyres, low torque, decent heater, low value, easy to position and control, she'd romp passed 4x4s on an icy hill back to our house. good on icy stuff and packed...

gummi pflege not helping sticking windows?

It can damage rubber seals, and also stress the window regulator. Mk2 Audi TTs used to suffer this, particularly feeble window mechanisms would fail.

Going to lay the car up, where to connect the trickle charger?

Looks a good spec on those Noco's for me I'd probably be okay with a 2amp jobbie.

    Juratek brake discs/pads

The mechanic I use has been fitting Juratek for a while. It's his goto.

    Top mount

When I did mine the rubber was obviously deteriorated and split. Straightforward albeit fiddly (R129 SL)

    M276 SLK 350 2011 Startup Rattle

Before you launch into anything expensive try the simple things 1st. I had similar, the car was running on ECP own brand oil albeit the correct specification. I swapped to Petronus (other premium brands are available) and all fixed.

Going to lay the car up, where to connect the trickle charger?

I won't be using one of my cars for a wee while so it's on a ctek. I really rate them. I had an elderly SL for 9 yrs, each winter living outside on a ctek. Battery remained good in my custody. No idea how old it was.

New to Mercedes, and delighted so far !

    I'd love another SL, and have an R231 like a shot .......except I need 4 seats. :(

    Modern Classic?

I ran an early brown 1500 Allegro as a winter shed back in the mid 80s, my 1st front wheel drive car. It did well, engine always started, kept going on the ice and snow when others were stuck, big squishy seats, comfortable and spacious. I even liked the wheel, good view of instruments and drove...

Ouch, not looking forward to this, are chiropractors more or less expensive than mechanics?

    W126 300SE water ingress

I don't know if this applies to your model or not but My R129 had blank rubber grommets in each footwell. These had perished and collapsed allowing spray to come up from underneath. The carpets and foam backing were saturated, took me ages to dry out. Easy to inspect and replace from underneath...

    Buying a CLK convertible

All done for now, tyres pumped up and on its ctek Hardy used the car, well just a couple of tanks of fuel, all seems good. Fitted new front brakes, new rear springs, unblocked the roof drains, rear arches repaired. Roll on spring.

    Boot latch release

I'm not familiar with that model so may be way off the mark. I think I'd start with the cleaning and lubricating all the moving parts in the mech. Failing that is there roof related micro switch that prevents boot operation? Maybe a code reader will help you track it down.

Is that the Renault unit, pretty sure it's chain.

Diamond Alloys - not the best job

Wheels live in a very harsh environment, which is why no-one guarantees them even from new. Powder coating is more durable for a daily.

Re slight rattle on cold start

Yes really. also less oil consumption. My conclusion (based on a sample size of 1 😁) not all oils are equal.

Re slight rattle on cold start

I had this with an M104. I changed to Petronas, from an unbranded (but correct spec) oil problem went away.
